the wind in the grass tonight, wildflowers gently waving at the sky, cold skin bathing beneath my shadow. they said the stars know everything

i've spent centuries listening.

i could still hear the world going by; the rumbled sound of the soil ageing, where shoulders lean over to better whisper, where i'll hear a tune humming on a night highway or the warm breath warming in the lungs. everyone is under the same sky through decades since the accretion. i've seen families form, families part, couples love, couples fall out of love, people laugh, people weep and also people, like sands, forsaken. I've yearned to reminisce.

they said the stars know everything, yet the ones I see in the sky have already vanished. so why do the memories matter?  how tragically beautiful to see life up there; a cemetery of dead stars.

the universe turned upside down, clouds melted, when did my feet ravel with the damp dirt, when did my face start to leak.
