Rossi walked in and was met with the amazed faces of the BAU Team, minus Olivia. She was in a meeting, well, more like a yelling match, with Strauss and the director. Rossi glanced around and Hotch smiled, "She'll be here.", and they went to the round room so JJ could debrief the team.
"And has I have stated before, Erin. My job is not to report to you. You will stand down or your badge will be in your head.", Erin Strauss stood toe to toe with Olivia and while most people would cower under the gaze of the older female, Olivia wasn't phased. "You are nothing to me. I don't answer to you. Hell, I don't even answer to Bob. I answer to the President and the Vice President alone. One wrong move, you will be without a job. Don't fuck with me or my team, got it. Rossi was my pick. The President agreed. As did Hotch. David Rossi is out of retirement, and I gave the okay. Your disapproval is null. This isn't your team to bully around anymore, Erin. This team is mine to protect. Got it?", Erin swallowed but nodded, "Good, anymore disappointing actions from you and you'll find yourself on the street.", and Olivia left the room. The director looking at Erin. "I told you not to make her mad.", and he sent Erin Strauss on her way.
Olivia walked into the jet, her phone to her ear as she cursed in Russian. Hotch's eyes wide. She was effectively ticked off. "Well, fix it or I will.", and she hung up. She took a deep breath and turned, "Hello.", and she flashed a smile. "Who was that?", she tilted her head, "The Secretary of Defense.", she took her seat and buckled in. "Hello, David. Happy to have you back. We can catch up over pasta and wine later.", he smiled and nodded at her. Olivia glancing out the window as Hotch looked at her. The team going into their own little worlds. "What happened?", she hummed, "Erin tried to command me to go against the team. It didn't end well for her. I threatened to put her badge into her skull.", Rossi looked at her with wide eyes. "I also told her only the President and the Vice President were able to command me to do anything. And that technically, I'm higher up in the ladder than she is. I don't think she liked that.", Hotch chuckled, "Probably not.", she shrugged, "Well, I'm no one's bitch. But especially not her's. If I were an animal, I'd eat her alive.", the three chuckled and went quiet, Olivia looking at the clouds as they flew. The BAU team was more her family than anyone else. She'd do anything to protect them, and it wasn't just because Aaron was her weakness but family was her greatest strength. And she'd do anything for family.
The team watched as Olivia fought against the medic trying to get him to leave her alone to check on the victim. The woman had taken the bullet for the victim. "Hotch, tell them I'm fine!", and the man sent her a look that the team knew all to well, but the team also knew. If Liv said she was fine, she was fine. "Ma'am. There isn't an exit wound.", and Olivia rolled her eyes, "Do you have tweezers?", the medic nodded and handed the woman the tweezers, and the team and police watched as she did surgery on herself in the field. She dropped the bullet into a plastic cup and grabbed a needle and thread from her pack, stitching herself up. "Take care of the victim now, please.", and she left the ambulance, frowning as she looked at her jacket, "Damn it, this jacket was expensive.", she tossed it into the ambulance for evidence and she glanced at the Unsub, that she had beaten down after being shot. She took a deep breath, "Can we go home now.", and Rossi chuckled at her, "You can come catch up with wine and pasta.", and she smiled, "I like the sound of that.", and the two walked off. "Is she always-", and Hotch nodded at the police chief, "Yeah, sorry about her.", the woman nodded, "No, don't worry about it. It's kind of badass.", and the team chuckled as they went after their two agents.
Hotch grumbled as he got back to the hotel he had been staying in, he didn't have the heart to kick Haley and Jack out of the house, but police did go by regularly while Hotch was gone. When Hotch was home, Denise, the nanny recommended by Olivia, kept Jack at an apartment that Olivia had gotten for Hotch and Jack, but Hotch didn't want to live in it. It felt weird. He heard a knock on the door and stood from the couch with a farrowed brow. He was wearing jeans and a t-shirt. He opened the door, "How did you find me? I used cash.", Olivia smirked. "Good try, but I have tags on all those I love. So, what's wrong.", she tilted her head, she was wearing skinny jeans, a navy blue tight v-neck, and a dark grey flowing cardigan with a pair of vans. Her hair was down and her face clear of makeup. She lifted an eyebrow. "I just, the apartment is nice and it's secured but it felt weird staying at it.", she frowned, "Why?", he sighed as the two went into the hotel room. She took a seat on the bed and Hotch looked at her, her eyes wide and her face filled with concerned. "Hotch, if you don't like it, I can help you find a different one. I like that one because it's close to me, work, and Denise. If something happens, we can get there quickly if you or Denise need help.", he looked at her. "Olivia, it's an amazing apartment and has room for me and Jack and more but, it's weird because. Well.", she frowned, "Hotch, you won't hurt my feelings.", he sighed, "You won't be there.", she frowned, "Hotch, I-", he cut her off, "I know you're only helping and I get it. It's who you are but Olivia. You broke up with me and I was so in love with you.", she frowned, "Hotch, I didn't break up with you because I didn't love you, I broke up with because I couldn't give you stability. And I'm sorry if you felt like I didn't love you. You were the love of my life.", he frowned, "Hotch, we have to use past tense or else things are going to get messy.", he looked at her, "And if we didn't use past tense?", she clenched her jaw, "Aaron, we can't do this.", he frowned, "Why not.", she licked her lips, "Because you're going through your divorce and oh my god. I've ruined this we were so good.", she stood up and started pacing. "I am so sorry, I didn't mean to make this awkward. I shouldn't have overstepped.", ran a hand through her hair and Aaron grabbed her, "Olivia, stop for just a moment.", she looked at him. "Don't use past tense, please.", she clenched her jaw, "You first.", they were silent before Hotch took a deep breath. "It broke my heart when you broke up with me and I reunited with Hailey to get rid of the hurt. Before. I knew it we were married and she had the ring I had for you and it took me longer to tell her I love you than it did to ask me to marry her. Because. I didn't love her. I don't love her. I never did. I love you. I always have.", she swallowed, she blinked a few times, "Aaron, you're the love of my life and it killed me to leave you. But I couldn't be what you needed. And honestly, Aaron, unless the president okays it I don't know if being here is permanent. I'd love for it to be. I really would because I missed you. But I still can't give you stability because I don't have stability. I get ripped from place to place and I could overtake a government with a special task force in 24 hours unnoticed. Aaron, I'm not normal. Im basically a freaking superhero no matter how many times I tell Derek not to call me Black Widow or Winter Solider. It's who I am. And I don't want it to be. I just want to be with you.", he pulled her toward him and kissed her, his arms going to her hips as hers went to his hair, she moaned as for the first time in 13 years, being with someone felt nice. He picked her up with ease and she wrapped her legs around his waist. And their night was spent together in his room.
The next morning two phones went off, both Hotch and Liv answering, "Hotchner.", "This is Hex.", both dark haired agents shot up, "Shit.", Derek and called Liv and JJ had called Aaron. Both shot up from the bed, quickly finding their clothes from last night before Olivia groaned and grabbed a t-shirt from Hotch's closet, tucked it into her jeans, and pulled a flannel on. She grabbed a hair tie from her pocket and quickly braided her hair. Both muttering, "I'll be right there.", before hanging up, throwing the respective phone to each other. "Well, how are we gonna explain this.", she looked at Hotch, "If anyone asks, I'll hit them.", Aaron sent her a look, "No you wouldn't.", they got into her car, "I know. And if JJ asks anything, we're screwed.", Aaron chuckled as she weaves through traffic. They got to the office in record time and grabbed their go bags, guns, and badges. The two ran into the building and went to their office and rushed in. The team looked at them with raised eyebrows and JJ smirked, Olivia rolled her eyes but JJ should see the soft smile. "We've got a case.", and the team went into the conference room, not picking on the two that were late that are normally the first there and the last to leave.
