Hunter walked into his house, putting his keys on the table next to the door before walking forward. Before he could make his way to his bedroom, his name was called and he turned around to see both his Mum and Dad in the living room.

With furrowed eyebrows he walked over to them. "What's going on?" There was a weird atmosphere in the air as they looked between each other. "Are you getting divorced?" He joked, trying to calm the tension.

"Hunter." His Mum spoke first, standing up off the couch with her hands linked in front of you. "Could you sit down with us for a minute?"

"Okay... now you're freaking me out." He said after a clear of his throat. "Can you just tell me what's going on?"

"Hunter, sit down. Please." His Dad said.

The fact they weren't giving him any information was started to get on his nerves. "I don't want to sit down. I want you to tell me what's going on." His phone began to ring in his pocket and he pulled it out to see Laine was calling him.

"Hunter, put your phone away." His Mum said.

"It's Laine... we had an argument. Why would she be calling me?" He questioned himself. He let the phone ring out but a second later, she was calling him again. "It must be important." Before he could answer it, his Dad came over and took the phone from his hands harshly. "What the hell?" He said in surprise.

"Sit down. Now!" His Dad raised his voice.

Hunter raised his eyebrows, not being used to either of his parents using this tone with him. He slowly moved over to the couch and sat down. His Mum sat down next to him while his Dad stayed standing.

"It's Debbie." She started off quietly.

"Debbie? What's wrong with Debbie?" His voice came out quickly as he looked between his parents.

His Mum eyes began to fill with tears. "S - She's not with us anymore..."

"What does that mean?" Hunter shook his head.

"Her parents found her this morning... she committed suicide. I'm so sorry, Hunter."

He scoffed and ripped his hands from her hold. "That's some sick joke! Why would you lie about that?" In his mind he just couldn't believe this was actually happening.

"You know we wouldn't lie about this." His Dad said. "I'm sorry, Hunter. But she's gone."

Hunter shook his head. "No! You're wrong. You're fucking wrong!" He went up to his Dad and snatched his phone back. He pressed on Debbie's contact and lifted the phone to his ear as he rushed into the kitchen.

It rang out.

Hey, it's Debbie. Leave a message!

"Debbie, what's going on? My parents said - they said..." He squeezed his eyes shut and hung up before ringing her again.
