Rhys' POV:

I woke up suddenly in the night, well whether it was still night or morning I wasn't sure, it was still dark. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, groaning as I stretched my back, a few clicks sounding out.
Theo was passed out to the side of me, and I noticed he was shivering. It was extremely cold, keeping in mind we're sleeping in a cave in the middle of nowhere. The outpost wasn't exactly warm and homely but I'd rather be there than here. I was about to light a small fire between us when I heard rustling outside. I immediately sat up straight, using my sight to see what was out there. It's probably a fox or something, Theo said there isn't much out here in these parts, but after looking for a couple of seconds that seemed like a life time, a figure of a person showed up. My heart leaped into my throat as I grabbed my gun, quickly crawling over to Theo.

I covered his mouth with my hand, knowing he would start spewing some shit about me waking him up. His eyes shot open in surprise and I put my finger to my lips, indicating for him to shut up.

'There's people outside and they're close,' I whispered to him as he quietly but quickly got up. 'I counted five of them, but there could be more'

Theo nodded and knelt down, placing his hands flat out against the ground. His eyes closed and eyebrows furrowed before opening his eyes that looked strangely brighter than before.

'There is more coming, we need to go'

'Go? Go where? They'll see us the second we crawl out from this cave. There's too many of them Theo. If they catch us we wont be able to fight them off'

'Well what do you suggest we do? Hide?'

Well now that's a good fucking idea.

Theo's POV:

I did not like the look on Rhys' face one bit. The look of fear turned into a smirk and I inwardly groaned.

'Whatever you're thinking it better not be stupid. I would rather not die today'

He chuckled before coming over to stand in front of me. His face was now serious, and I could feel nervousness. He took a deep breath, like he was preparing himself to tell me his deepest darkest secret. He better hurry up because they're getting closer.

'Right, so you know how you mentioned having something else along with sight, well, same. And I don't have much time to explain so you're going to have to just trust me, and be quiet, okay?'

Taking my silence as an answer, he strode away from me, heading to the entrance of the cave. I nearly ran after him, why the fuck is he going towards them?! However I was stopped dead in my track's as he suddenly halted, dropping to his knees and placing his hands on the cold stone floor.

It was a few seconds later when I nearly fell to my knees in shock. I audibly gasped as a loud rumbling noise filled my ears as earth and stone was literally rising from the ground. Rhys was still on his knees, but it looked like he was using a lot of strength and power to do whatever this is. A whole wall, just like the other walls to this cave erupted from the ground. There was dust, dirt, and stray pieces of rock that fell in different directions, but he stayed there, on the ground making this giant wall. He was covering the cave entrance so those people couldn't find us.

As soon as the entrance was no longer there, his whole body collapsed.

'Rhys!'

I ran to him and grabbed his head before it hit the floor. He looked physically and mentally exhausted. His eyes kept fluttering open and shut, his skin was paler than usual and had a thin layer of sweat covering it. He used up all his energy doing that. Shit.

'Rhys, you're going to be okay you crazy bastard,' he laughed weakly. 'Maybe we can try that energy transferring thing again, hm?' He looked at me before slowly nodding, and I proceeded to grab his hands like he did to me in our first meeting.

Straight away there was a pulse of energy but his was significantly weaker. How did we do this before? How can I give him my energy? He seemed to understand I had no clue what the fuck I was doing and his hands clutched mine back, and he suddenly took a deep breath. I steadied myself as our energy combined. I felt a little different—queasy—as he started to look visibly better. He let go but continued to lay on the ground.

'Now how the hell did you do that, and when were you planning on telling me? You could have used that a lot sooner you know. I even told you my thing and you jus- ow!'

He chuckled as a small piece of stone hit my head. Guess that means it's time for Theo to stop talking.
