The heroes could watch helplessly as a dangerous red portal in the sky continued to be opened. Whatever evil force on the other side was coming closer and closer to becoming unleashed. Anyone who came near the portal would be overcome with its strong energy that threaten to tear their souls apart.
It was all hands on deck with every available hero coming to aid in the crisis. Most of them were busy dealing with the ghoul like creatures that escaped the portal.
Their helmeted magic user was down. His energy rapidly depleted after using all his power to keep the evil force at bay.
Their other magic user, the renowned sorceress supreme, tried to seal the portal but failed immensely. The evil force that was being unleashed was far too strong for them.
As they were wracking their brains trying to figure out how to stop it, a bright light shone behind them. The light dimmed and revealed non other than their silver haired fairy friend (if she could call them her friends). She arrived in her full fairy form that resembled a warrior.
While the others seemed relived and hopeful by her arrival, one sorceress looked irked by her presence.
"What are you doing here?" The sorceress spat at her.
"Zatanna now's not the time to-" the orange clad vigilante tried to interject but was cut off by the surprisingly cold and serious voice that came from the fairy.
"Out of my way..."she mumbled.
"What?"
The fairy glared straight into the eyes of the sorceress with so much anger. You could see her eyes glow a violet hue like her eyes but still retained her pupils.
"I said...Get out of my way!!! I don't have the time nor patience to deal with your ego or your cr*p!!!" She spread her wings as waves of magic flowed around her daring the sorceress to argue with her.
"And don't interfere. You'll only make things worse." She added coldly before blasting off into the sky.
The fairy flew up and stopped at what could be considered a reasonable distance from the portal. Close to the portal but far enough that she could somewhat withstand it deadly energy.
Taking a deep breath she stretched both her hands out towards the portal and focused her magic. A bright light began shinning from her hands while magic circles formed around her and the portal with one big blue magic circle standing in between her and the sinister portal. Altogether the portal was being struck by all magic circles.
And to everyone's surprise, it was working. The portal seemed to be shrinking slowly as there were less ghouls coming out of it. The ones that did immediately perished under her powerful light.
She was getting closer. She could feel it. She just needed to go on a little longer and the portal will close.
Suddenly her concentration was broken and she could feel the strong defence she put up waver by the sudden presence of another magical force. The fairy looked aside and saw the sorceress beside her.
"What do you think you're doing?!" She yelled.
"I'm trying to help you!" The sorceress yelled back.
Help? Help?! Of all the times she could've helped and didn't, she chose now of all times when her help could actually end up killing people. Where was her help before things got to this point?!
"Get away! You'll only make things wor-" unexpectedly they were both thrown down as the portal let out a wave of energy. In an instant each magic circle that were formed disappeared as the portal began growing.
"I told you to stay back! What part of that didn't you understand?! Now look what happened!" The fairy was seething. Light began sparking from her fingers to show just how agitated she was.
"Look at what that thing did to Dr. Fate! What makes you think you could do it without any help!" The sorceress tried to defend herself. The fairy couldn't take it any longer. She calmed the magic surging in her hand before balling it into a fist. A sickening crack could be heard as her fist collided with the sorceress's cheek.
"If I had your help from the get go things wouldn't have escalated this far! But you couldn't put your ego aside you entitled, egotistical, sick-"
An ear piercing screech came from the portal as dozens of ghouls burst out of it. Realizing that time was running out she pulled the sorceress by the arm and threw her towards the other heroes.
"Make sure she doesn't pull a stunt like that again! If I die from this oh so help me I'll curse you from beyond the grave!" She ordered them before flying off towards the ever growing portal.
She tried to redo what she did earlier but it was less effective as the portal was bigger and more powerful than before. Even so she held her ground and channelled in more power while she flew closer to the portal and inevitably its deadly energy. She knew it was dangerous but she didn't have a choice.
Thankfully the portal began shrinking again. She could feel herself growing weaker as immense pain shot through her body. It really did feel like her soul was tearing apart.
Suddenly, she heard a low growl coming from the portal. Right before it closed, she caught a glimpse of black eyes with yellow slit pupils staring at her.
_________________________________________Chiara woke up gasping for air. Her heart felt like it was about to burst.
Immediately she got up to get some water to calm her nerves. After a glass (or 10) of water, she managed to somewhat ease her nerves. Her heart didn't feel like exploding anymore but her hands were still shaky.
When she went back to her quaters to get some rest,Chiara didn't expect to doze off and wake up with a panic attack. Among all the dreams and visions she's had, this one has got to be the worst.
After a while, she managed to fully calm herself down. Thought it didn't seem like she could catch a break cause the next thing she knew, she was assigned to another mission.
By the time she got to the bridge, most of the new generation, Zero and a few other ultras were already there.
In their briefing, they were informed a number of dangerous aliens escaped from prison. Coincidentally, some monsters were resurrected from the monster graveyard and wrecked havoc on nearby planets. The aliens and monsters were last spotted heading in the same direction. A dead planet in the G74 Nebula.
Right before they departed, a strong feeling of dread struck her. Suddenly, she wasn't at the bridge anymore but a dark void. Chiara heard a low growl that sounded eerily familiar.
She looked up and was met with a ginormous blood red beast standing before her with its wings spread. Its eyes were glowing red and...was that blood dripping from its mouth?
"Chiara?" Said ultra was snapped out of her daze when she heard her name being called. Instantly she was back at the bridge. Not a hint of darkness or blood in sight.
"You feeling alright?" Orb asked.
"Oh,uh...yeah I'm great! Just got a little distracted, that's all."
After the rest arrived, they departed to G74. If only she knew how this mission would be the turning point for the mysteries of her forgotten past.
