POV-(Y/n):
There was a light hum from the car as the engine started up. It was a nice car, humble and pleasant. A little hatchback that looked to be a fairly common make and model. It was comfy on the inside though. I practically sunk into the cushy cozy chair with my bag in my lap. It was the first time I had ever ridden in a regular civilian car. It was nice! I looked out the window as we began moving. There were so many sites to see in the densely packed fields. Open crop fields and lush trees in some parts, factories and warehouses in others. Far from what I was used too.
Kisaragi: So (Y/n), where are you from?
I turned my head away from the window and looked at her, the woman's cheerful grin making me internally swoon as my mind scattered a bit.
(Y/n): I'm from the United States, born and raised!
Kisaragi: Oh! I have family that went to university there, I've always wanted to visit it. What's it like there?
Freezing up, I struggled to think of something to say. I was from the US but...in reality I actually knew very little about it beyond it's Governmental and Military hierarchy as well as it's military industrial complex. The same complex that was responsible for me being the way I am. I vaguely remember hearing bits of the national anthem and pledge but that was about it. Beyond it's underground testing facilities..I didn't know much about it.
(Y/n): Well, it's definitely different than here that's for sure! More noisy stuff and leagues more weapons as well. Here I almost fell asleep under a temple overhang, over there that would have been impossible from all the noise!
Thankfully, it seemed me talking around in circles had satiated the young woman's curiosity as she smiled and spoke, never once removing her gaze from the road.
Kisaragi: *laughs* Yeah I've heard that from my family too, "The Land of Freedom and Firearms" they would sarcastically call it.
(Y/n): They're not wrong!
We both laughed.
Kisaragi: Although I will say, you just haven't fully experienced the Tokyo Metropolitan area yet, it's similarly noisy there than it is here in rural Narita.
(Y/n): I bet! Looking at it through the window of the plane when it flew in was amazing!
Kisaragi: It's certainly a site to behold, but a nightmare to work at if you're a salary person like I was. *laughs*
(Y/n): You work there in Metropolitan Tokyo?
Kisaragi: I used to when I was in university.
(Y/n): Oh wow! Which one?
Kisaragi: University of Tokyo, full graduate!
(Y/n): That's incredible, Ms Kisaragi! You must be really smart to have that under your belt!
Kisaragi: *giggles* Oh I'm nothing special, but thank you (Y/n), you're very sweet!
(Y/n): Where do you work now, since you're not a salary woman anymore?
Kisaragi: A medical research laboratory off the coast a bit, a boat is needed to get there but the pay is worth it and my boss and coworkers are very nice to me!
"Medical Research Laboratory"? That sounds very...purposefully ambiguous. Like she doesn't truly know what they actually do or she's not allowed to talk about it outside work. I didn't want to press further her about it, though. I'm not going to risk annoying the one friendly person that found me. Especially not just on a paranoid hunch of mine.
