From The Battle Field And Back

Chapter 1:All Aboard

It was August,4 2002 2 weeks before i was deployed,

As soon as i graduated high school I enlisted into the Marines,

One of the hardest branches out there,

I always did prefer a challenge....

I was just enjoying the summer with my family and my bestfriend Blake,

We enlisted together although we knew that we weren't going to be station at the same place,

I guess since we we in the same branch then that led him to think that we would find each other again,

Damn,

How i was gonna miss him,

His personality and just in all the way he carries himself,

Family man 18 years old with two kids already,

But he loved them dearly and i knee that the distance was gonna kill them...,

One night he wanted to take me out to a Club so i said fuck it and went with him,

And he was quite wild,

But he knew how to have fun,

But I always had to be the sober one to make sure we made it home,

But since i we were in the military now we had to retain from any drug substance,

I barely did it anyway so it came easy to me...

But on this very night was the night i met her...

As i sat at the bar sipping on my cola some girl bumped into me making me drop my soda,

The girl:i sm so sorry let me help you...

Me:no its ok i go it

And thats when i reached down and picked it up,

And as i got up i was able to get a good look at her,

And how precious she was,

She was So beautiful i had never seen anything like her before,

Cause i come from a privileged dominantly white school and seeing this beautiful chocolate queen made me feel some type of way,

As i stood there just admiring her beauty she said,

The girl:I'm so sorry I'm just clumsy and i...

Me:no its ok truly

The girl:ok...

Me:what's your name?

The girl:I'm Grace and you?

Me:Charlie....Charlie Beckely

Grace:wait do i know you?

And thats when i smiled and said,

Me:i hope so

Grace:wait your John's son right?

Me:yeah how did you know?

Grace:my father and yours use to be buddies back in the day

And thats when i began to wonder,

Me:what happened?

Grace:how am I suppose to know...i was all of what 6?

Me:...

Grace:I'm just good at remembering faces

Me:is that so?

And thats when she smiled and nodded her head...

After talking to her for a while we exchanged numbers,
