It was like the last few weeks were becoming a repeat for Emerson. She was back on a plane to Chicago. This time, she wasn't leaving soon.

Her, Gabby, and Elijah had packed up her and her mother's house, shipping everything to the Windy City before leaving and helping Olivia do the same thing.

This change was something that everyone needed, and they didn't care about the repercussions at the moment.

With only two months left in the school year, Emerson and Elijah wanted to just get a GED, but Erin was not allowing them to not walk across the stage. So, they would go back in two months and graduate with their class. For now, they would finish up school online

As soon as the plane touched down, Emerson looked out for one of her parental figures. Meeting eyes with her favorite ranger, she practically jumps into his arms, happy to finally be reunited. "Hey, old man...I missed you"

"I missed you more Princess. So so much" Slinging her bag over his shoulder, Jay throws an arm around Elijah and follows Gabby out to his truck.

I know your mistakes and you know mine
And while you're sleeping I'll try to make you proud
So, daddy, won't you just close your eyes?

"Your mom and Hank are outside waiting for you Lijah. They couldn't wait for you to get back. And, a certain firefighter is out there for you gabby." Thanking the blue-eyed ranger, both Gabby and Lijah agree to meet up with Emerson at a later time.

Emerson was still wrapped in jays arms, fast asleep. "You ready to go see mom kiddo?" Nodding her head, Emerson refused to let go of Jay until he placed her in the car.

As Jay walks into the new home, with Emerson back in his arms, he ends up gently placing her on the couch and covering her up. "Erin, we're home sweetie"

Erin practically runs from the kitchen into the living room to find her Khaleesi fast asleep. Moving a few hairs out of her face, and taking her shoes off, Erin places a kiss on her forehead. She could finally have a peaceful night's rest with her daughter safely in the same house.

Emerson was exhausted.

She hadn't had a perfect night's rest since she crashed at Severide's months ago. Hopefully, being back near her parents would change that for the young girl.

The night terrors had finally stopped, and Emerson was two seconds away from de-committing from college and joining the fire academy.

But, at the moment, she just wanted to start her new routine and spend lots of time with her mother and father.

There was time to worry about the future I'm the upcoming months
