Every time I come back to this place I become the person I was again,
I find myself pretending to be that awkward twelve year old girl again,
My confidence lowers as I stare around this familiar place,
Toes in the sand again,
Memories flood back to me,
All the sudden I'm not who I am but who I was,
Hometowns are supposed to be protective but they can make you lose your mind,
Talking to old friends reminds me how far I've come,
But they'll never know all they see is little ole me,
I'll never be the girl I was,
I'll never go back to the past.
