Chapter 20

Angelo's POV

My sister, the bravest woman I've ever met, has been gone for two weeks. I hate watching Lorenzo pace. He can't talk to Hades the way he wants to. He typically bounces ideas off of his best friend. I have tried to step in for him, but I know I'm not as helpful as Hades is. It comes with their Don statuses. Those two have always been as thick as thieves. Once upon a time, I hated Hades. I wanted my older brothers attention, but Hades quickly changed that hatred. They always included me in everything, especially after Mir was kidnapped. I respect both of them so much. I just wished that Mirabella's plan was coming to an end. We are prepared for the takedown of our mother, but it is taking longer than we hoped.
I walked up to my room and threw myself on the bed. I just wished this was a terrible dream I could get out of. My whole family is going crazy waiting on Mir to give us the go ahead. I think Mar now lives in her room. I know he missed his twin, I wish I could just make everything better for my family. I propped myself up on my bed and noticed an envelope on window sill. Good lord, how does she have people who have access to our rooms. Sneaky girl. I hurriedly opened the note and smiled sadly as I walked to Lorenzo's office to read the note with him because it is addressed to both of us.

To my eldest brothers,

This will be the last note. I know that I didn't write one to the other twins or dad, but I am ready. I've weaseled my way into her head. She thinks I've forgiven her for everything and that I am willing to marry Hades. You guys are my rocks. I love all of you guys so much. I also miss all of you just as much. Enz, I know not talking to Hades has been awful, I get it. I miss him and my babygirl so much. This is almost done, I promise. Ang, I need to tell you something, but you can't act rash. Bide your time, but I will let you handle this problem. The rat is someone you're very close to. Michael told me he was jealous of the time you were spending with our family again, so he wanted to eliminate the reason you've been home much more. I hate that it was him, but you cannot do anything until I give the word. He has been staying in the American's base. I do also think he is related to our "stepfather." The plan will commence sometime between Wednesday night(which should be the day you received this letter) and Friday evening. I will send the informant to blow the whistle on the day I feel they've let their guard down. You may tell the family who the rat is. I hate that it was him, Ang. I promise Alexei would be better company(I'm winking at you.) I'm sorry, I just am trying to make it a little better. Now be ready and make sure my babygirl is safe with someone we trust before coming to the base. The informant will give the directions to the base with his phrase. You'll know the time.

I hung my head and let the tears fall. The man I called my best friend is the reason my family is in danger. Why didn't I see it before? He always has been a little jealous, especially of Hades and Alexei. I just didn't think he'd try to hurt my sister. I just don't understand, him and I are nothing more than platonic. Although, it won't matter, he'll be dead soon, by my own hands. I'll take great pleasure in it, as well.
"Ang, it isn't your fault. You had no idea that he was capable of something like this. I know this sucks, he is supposed to be your best friend, but best friends don't get jealous of their friend hanging with their family, especially when our sister was just found. The man wanted to control your life, but he fucked with the wrong family. His loyalty should have been with you, but he's shown his true colors and we'll handle it, together, always." He grabbed me into a hug. I couldn't be more grateful for my brother. "Now, let's call a family meeting and call Hades in, as well. It's time to get ready."
It took twenty minutes to get everyone in the meeting room, including dad's girlfriend and Ana. I honestly can't wait for Mir to meet dad's girlfriend. I could use a good laugh and it is going to be hysterical when she meets her.
Lorenzo stood to address the room. "Alright, guys. We received the final letter from Mirabella. She exposed the rat and it was definitely unexpected. Michael was jealous of the fact that Angelo was spending time at home more now that Mira was found. I hate that for him, he fucked with the wrong family. Now, we pretend it was never exposed for now. Mirabella said the whistle will be blown anytime from tonight to Friday evening. I don't know exactly when it'll happen but she says we'll know. We must be ready, Nadia we'll need you to stay with Ana. However, we'll need you to be ready just in case they come to the house ready to fight. I don't know if it'll happen, but we trust you. Hades, I'll intercom you on our walkie-talkies I bought yesterday. I missed you and I thought it would be cool to talk that way, but Mir is almost ready for the plan, so we'll probably never need these again." Lorenzo said with a pout. That man is a Don, but you wouldn't know it if you knew him personally. I love that about our family; we don't act the way we do with the mafia and at home. I just can't wait for the Mira to come home, even if she's probably moving in with Hades. She'll still be home.
"Thank god. I didn't know how much longer I could wait. I've already signed the contract to marry her, but the American's hadn't gotten back to me yet. I was getting restless. I miss her so fucking much. I can't wait until she's back home. I also wanted to talk to you guys about something. I, uh, got this. I know it's kind of a sucky time to talk about this, but this has been a way to distract my girl, as well." He threw a ring down on the table. It was simple band with a princess cut diamond on it. Mir was going to love it.
Dad smiled at him, "you have our permission, Hades. We can't wait til you're officially part of the family. Now, I say we go on about our day and pretend this conversation didn't happen, we'll know when your sister is ready for our attack. Be prepared boys, this is going to be a war. But we'll get your sister back. Meeting adjourned."
Hades went back home with Ana, but it was good to see her. I had Rocco sitting on my lap, I knew he missed her, I did too. He was going to stay back with Nadia and Ana. He'd protect them with his life. He was a good boy.
On Thursday, right at ten at night, our intercom connected to the guard tower went off with Jake, Marcello's friend, with the phrase Mira had left in all of her notes, Dolphins sleep with one eye open was spoken throughout the house.
It was go time. Good luck, mother, we're coming for you.

Hi, uh, I know it's been awhile. I'm sorrrrryyyy.

Now my life has been an absolute madhouse since I updated last. My fiancés grandfather died, so we had the funeral and then they had to clean his house out. It has been an absolute mess of a few weeks. On top of all of that, we're actually building our own house, so sometimes we end up over there in the evenings and lose track of time.

I should have wayyy more time to update. I am also sorry that this was a shorter chapter, but that's because next chapter is going to be a long and fun chapter. I don't know how many more chapters I plan on making this story, because I am still trying to work out an ending, but I think we are close to the end of this story. It for sure won't be any longer than 30 chapters, but I doubt seriously it'll take more than 10 more chapters to wrap everything up.
