Test of Speed

"RAAAA!"

Fleetway destroyed the Chili Dog building with a simple energy blast. The civilians started screaming and immediately were cleared from the area. None seemed to be hurt, however. 

Blaze: What the hell? I've never seen a super form like this.

Silver: Knuckles, what was that?!

Knuckles: My mistake, alright? I didn't expect him to act up like this.

Fleetway looked down onto the remains of the building, onto the all-female group. Even Silver stopped flying just to gaze at the threat above. 

Tails: What do we do?!

Amy: Tails, you find out more about the guy. Name, address, criminal record, everything.

Blaze: Silver, code Delta.

Silver: On it.

Silver toyed around with his wrist-tech, opening some futuristic holographic panels.

"HAHAHA! HOW'D YA LIKE THAT?!"

Tails: Amy, give me and Silver more time.

Amy: Hey, Freakeyes! Over here!

Fleetway turned his head to Amy, with a massive grin on his face.

"I'm gonna enjoy this."

Meanwhile...

Tails: I got a few things. 

Knuckles: Spill it, Tails.

Tails: His name's Y/N. Lives on apartment 1305, in the building next to the ice cream parlour. No past crimes, by the seems of it.

Amy: You just gonna float there, idiot?

Knuckles: Silver, any minute now. Amy's gonna get blasted!

"TAKE THIS, PINKY!"

Silver: NOW!

On the rooftops surrounding Y/N, Rouge had arrived to quickly neutralize Y/N. She quickly threw a dart to his neck, hoping to knock him out cold.

But Fleetway caught it midair.

Fleetway: "You're too slow... HAHAHA!"

Silver: Rouge, watch out!

Rouge: what the fu-!?

Before Rouge could even say anything, the dart went flying back to her. She managed to dodge it with a millisecond to spare, and turned back to him.

Rouge: You're powerful, but cocky.

Fleetway: "You talk too much."

Tails reveals a sort of metallic, futuristic Walkie-Talkie that has a megaphone-like effect.

Tails: Y/N! WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE! WHAT DO YOU WANT?!

Fleetway turns to Tails, his smirk disappearing in an instant.

"I am no longer Y/N. I'm something more."

Tails: WHY ATTACK? WHY CAUSE SO MUCH CHAOS?!

"I think we both know the answer to that question."

Tails looked down, visibly upset.

Fleetway looked to see Rouge floating on spot, realizing that the person she tried to harm was, in fact, Y/N.

Rouge: I'm sorry.. I didn't..-

"SHUT UP!"

Fleetway yells and immediately flies over to her in the blink of an eye. He throws her to the ground next to the others. 

"Time for a REAL TEST OF SPEED!"

Amy: GO, GO, GO!

The group started running, except for Silver and Rouge, who were flying above them. Fleetway was in pursuit behind them, high in the air.

"HAHAHA!"

A sense of hopelessness dawned onto the group. This "thing" was extremely powerful and resilient. They needed a way to stop Y/N, but how?

"YOU'RE FIRST, PINKY!"

Fleetway stooped down and grabbed his first victim, and threw her into a building on his left.

Knuckles: AMY! YOU'RE GOING TO PAY FOR THAT!

"THEN STOP RUNNING, AND FIGHT!"

Blaze: Knuckles, don't. He's trying to go for us 1 by 1. We need to lose him.

Tails: Y/N, STOP! WE CAN COME TO AN AGREEMENT!

"MY NAME IS FLEETWAY!"

Fleetway went for Tails next, and didn't have much mercy for the poor girl fox. She was bombarded with punches from all sides, and was left lying on the floor unconscious.

Knuckles: GOD DAMNIT, I'LL KILL YOU MYSELF!

The female echidna stopped running, and turned around. Fleetway also stopped, and floated down onto the ground.

"I admire bravery. Too bad this is the last I'll ever see from it."

Knuckles: YOU'RE INSANE! IF YOU'RE GONNA HIT A GIRL, THEN GET ALL OF US!

"You'll get it soon enough, Knuckles."

Knuckles: STOP! DON'T YOU DARE CALLING ME BY MY NAME AFTER WHAT YOU'VE DONE, YOU SHIT! YOU'VE HURT SO MANY PEOPLE, AND FOR WHAT?! I KNOW IT WAS MY FAULT FOR WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SQUIRREL! I BLAME MYSELF AND CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT!

Fleetway was confused, and stopped approaching the echidna. The poor woman was kneeling on the floor, tears to her face.

Knuckles: ...BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU GET TO HURT MY FRIENDS! I DON'T CARE IF YOU KILL ME, BUT I'LL DIE FIGHTING AGAINST A MONSTER LIKE YOU!

Knuckles got up, wiping the tears off her face. She assumed her fighting stance, ready to do what she could.

Fleetway hesitated, for the first time. It was hard for him to process, the idea of bravery and guilt. But he soon got it out of his head and brought back his usual devilish smile.

"NOW I'LL SHOW YOU, ECHIDNA!"

Fleetway ran forward, but was interrupted. A gun shot went off. He looked to his leg, and there was a hole in it. He could feel his energy draining. He turned to see who shot, and saw the edgy hedgehog woman from before.

Silver: Rouge, he's distracted!

Rouge: Got it.

Rouge threw a dart to Fleetway's back whilst he was turned, and it worked.

"Ugh.. Now, I'll.. I'll show you.."

???: Easy target.

Rouge: nice shot, Shadow. 

Amy: Great timing as well!

Shadow: All in a day's work.

Fleetway fell onto his side, his super form flickering into his normal Y/N form.

"Heh.. I'll.. you're... too..""

And then it was lights out for Y/N.
