Escape (pt. 1)

Y/N slowed his pace, assuming he was at least a few miles away from the girls's base. He was huffing and puffing, extremely tired. However, Y/N didn't dare take a look back. He had already caused too much damage. He was worried about them, but he knew Fleetway was too powerful. He looked up at the sky, after the day he was in confinement. He realized that it was nearing night. He decided he would keep running for the next hour or so, and then rest for the night. 

Cut to the base...

Tails had woken up. She had no idea how much time had passed. She took a second to lay on the floor, trying to recollect her memories.

Tails: "Ugh, what happened..?"

She slowly grunted and weakly got up from the floor. She took a look around her, to see her friends on the floor. Knuckles, Blaze, Rouge, and Amy. Suddenly, it clicked. 

Tails: "Y/N!"

Tails remembered. She, along with Amy, Blaze and Rouge, were running down the corridor to stop Knuckles from unknowingly freeing Fleetway. Shadow had ran out and Silver was chasing her. Tails realized that Y/N must've escaped. Tails leaned down towards Blaze.

Tails: "Hey Blaze, wake up. C'mon, please.."

She put her head on her chest to check her heartbeat. Still beating. Tails knew all the girls were fine, but unconscious nonetheless. She had to stop Y/N alone. By any means necessary. So Tails strapped on her goggles, brought some gadgets "just in case," and ran out of the building in search for Y/N.

Tails took one look at the building of her group's base. It was showing cracks, suffering from the blast. She wondered about her friends, and looked in front of her, to where Y/N would most likely be going. After a terrified sigh, Tails dashed into the night.

Cut to Silver...

Silver: "Shadow! Where the hell are you?!"

Silver had been chasing Shadow for a while now. Shadow managed to lose her at an interval, and Silver had no idea where she was. Silver was worried about Shadow. She was prone to having panic attacks, but had seemed to get over them in the part 2 months. There was something about what Y/N said that triggered her. Or maybe it was Y/N himself...

It didn't matter, all that mattered was finding Shadow. Silver had no idea what was going on back at the base, but she reassured herself that the other girls had everything under control. 

Silver: "It'll be fine, it'll be fine."

Silver has a tendency to talk to herself sometimes, especially in stressful situations. She was more determined than ever to find Shadow. This wasn't about Fleetway anymore. If shadow got lost, Silver would be held responsible. She'd never forgive herself. Silver had to find her. She had no choice.

The group loved Silver, yes. But they also had given her countless responsibilities. She had to deal with Eggman, she had to organize the plans, she had to keep everyone under control. She had to be perfect, always. She was the glue for the group. And paired with her visions of the future, it only made her unstable. It always hurt, but she could never show that to anybody.

Silver had a problem with being a perfectionist. One wrong slip-up could kill everybody. She wasn't there for that one mission a few days ago, where Ray had died. If only she'd been there. Silver thought about this, whilst still searching for Shadow.

Shadow! She almost forgot about her. Silver knew she was being selfish by only thinking about her problems. Shadow was also handed burdens. Everyone was. Shadow's known to be the edgy girl in the group. She keeps to herself, ever since the incident. 

Silver hated thinking about it. It affected all of them, really. It wasn't important, though. She had to focus on finding Shadow. Ever since the incident, Shadow was unstable. Broken. She had always been dangerous, but she'd been reckless after that. Too reckless. Getting injured in almost every battle. Silver was worried about her. She'd been experiencing panic attacks at the slightest reminder of what happened. It was horrible, mentally draining.

It was also bad for Amy. She never got over her loss after that day, and seeing Ray die made it worse. It made her think of him. The one we lost. He was close to us, and left too soon. Knuckles concealed everything, or at least tried to. She made it seem like she didn't care. Silver wasn't oblivious. She seems to resent Y/N, her new rage outlet. Rouge was never close to him, but seeing her friends wallow in despair was heartbreaking for her. Blaze was depressed, but eventually got over it. She's mature. She came to terms with his death.

Tails was.. different. She had mood swings. While she's mostly cheerful nowadays, she'll end up having to reconnect with the incident. It's a coping mechanism, Silver guessed. But Y/N was helpful to her, it seems. After whatever happened with Y/N that confrontation, it seemed to brighten her day just a little bit. Y/N was like him. Silver knew she had to look into him after finding Shadow. She hoped that Y/N would help the others too.

The incident was 5 years ago. The day we lost Sonic.

Hey! This chapter was originally supposed to be shorter, but I decided to put some extra shit in there because I felt like it. There are some things I'd like to discuss in this note, but first I'd just like to say this is my story. If you don't like it, I'd be happy to hear your constructive criticism. However, if you just want to blatantly hate, screw off. Anyways, the thing I think most people are confused about is putting Sonic in this fanfic. I was trying to find a way to give the characters a reasonable motive to act the way they do, and I think making Sonic a past character is a good way to do it. Having Y/N / Fleetway helping them overcome their struggles is something I feel is a good idea. Also, I am aware about the differences in this fanfic and the mainline games. I gave the characters their own extra things so that they'd be more relatable, and have more character as a whole. Anyways, thanks for reading and have a supersonic time.
