In the mornings, when the big yellow ball in the sky wakes, the Croods finally leave their cave. Ila watched as uncle Grug opens the cave door, pushing the boulder away from the entrance. He grabbed a handful of dirt and threw it at a Liytoe that was sitting in front of their home. It's tail wagging and tongue hanging out.
The creature didn't move nor make a sound. It sat there, staring at the huge caveman curiously. Grug growled at it, making it run away in fear.
Ila noticed myherolder cousin, Eep, creeping towards the entrance. She quickly ran out and jumped onto her dads back. "You're supposed to wait for my signal! Eep?" He called out to her as she ran away from him, jumping on top of a rock.
"Ila! Come on." Eep called out to her as she walked out of the cave. A small chuckle erupted from her throat as she ran over and jumped up next to her. Both of them noticed a small group of Liyotes below them. Smirks appearing on their faces, they jumped down and scared them off.
Laughing as they watched the Liyotes run off, they laid down on the rock with our feet's dangling. "We've been in that cave for forever!" Ila frowned as she stared at the big blue sky above.
"Three days is not forever." Grug grumbled as he walked over to the pair on the rock.
Eep rolled her eyes. "It is with this family." She said, earning a nod from Ila.
"Eep, Ila. Would you please come down here," Grug said as he tried to reach the girls. "You two are being so dramatic." Just as he was trying to get the teenagers down, the youngest of the Croods charged out of the cave. She snarled and growled, revealing her uneven long teeth. "No. No. No. Sandy," Grug frowned as he tried to catch her. "Remember. Good girls wait for the signal."
Sandy stared at a big mosquito passing by. She launched herself towards it, taking a big bite out of its leg. She hung as the mosquito continued to fly. Ugga, the mother of the Croods, ran out of the cave and struggled to catch her youngest daughter.
"Ugga!" Grug groaned, throwing his hands up in surrender.
"As soon as I get Sandy down I'll go back in. You can give the signal then." She said, grabbing her daughter from the mosquito and yanking her off its leg. She started heading back to the cave but Grug stopped her.
"No, I mean, you're already out now." Grug sighed, shaking his head. What was the point of a signal if no one waited for it?
"I am waiting for the signal, dad." A nervous voice called from the cave.
Motioning for his only son to come out, Grug frowned. "Never mind, Thunk. Just, come out."
"Uhhh, but if you don't give the signal, how do I know you're my dad?" asked the voice.
"The signal isn't so you know it's me, it's so you know I wasn't eaten by an animal." Grug explained as Ugga sat Sandy on the ground, trying to keep her in one place.
"Then why is the signal an animal noise? Doesn't that confuse things?"
Grug groaned, clutching his head. He stood on one leg and started making some animal noises. "Hoo hoooooo! HOO HOOOO!"
A chubby boy, thunk, ran out of the cave growling and bumped into his father. He picked upa boulder and threw it, which bounced back from the cliff wall and hit Grug in the process. Grug got plowed over by the boulder.
"Mom, we're ready to leave." Ugga called out for the final member of their finally, her mother or also known as Gran. After a few moments of complete silence, Ugga called again. "MOM!"
