Why did he agree to take charge of training the new members? After just one training session Noah already regretted saying yes to Momotaro. Most of the recruits were in their early twenties and, as you'd expect from a group of teens with a hero complex, they enjoyed showing off and never shut up.Still, one of them surpassed the rest, winning the title of the most annoying student he ever had: Miles, Lorcan's little brother.
The brown-haired teenager always had something to say, Noah couldn't give a single order in peace, the worst part was that she didn't interrupt him to ask questions, which he would understand considering that newcomers might not understand, but liked to correct him.
A kid that had been in the Protectors for less than a week tried to correct him.
"You sure that's how I'm supposed to do it?" Asked Miles, before hitting the punching bag. His bad position made him lose his balance, he almost fell to the side but he moved his feet just in time to stop himself. "See, I almost fell."
Noah crossed his arms against his chest and took a couple of steps back, wanting to stay as far away from the walking nuisance as possible.
"If it's my fault, then why are you the only one in this class that can't throw a proper punch? Look around, the rest are doing a decent job. Do it your way if you think you know better, go again, show me how it's supposed to be done."
"Can't believe I have to do your job."
Miles positioned himself to strike, his right leg coming out too far and his torso twisted a little to the side. Noah didn't correct anything, even so he got closer to avoid a fall that he knew was coming.
The teen threw his punch, barely touching the bag. His body fell to the side. The redhead extended his arm and rested his hand on the younger's sword, stopping his fall without making a fuss. The boy could be insufferable but he had no intention of humiliating him in front of his peers in the first week.
"What were you saying about doing my job?" Asked Noah. "Practice your posture as I teached you. Observe how the others do it and try to copy them. After that, if you still have problems and if you ask nicely, I can explain it to you one more time. Next time pay attention when I show you what to do."
The young man returned to the center of the room and called all his students. The group of rookies stopped practicing their punches, one by one they approached their coach, forming a line.
"This is all for today, don't stop practicing your posture. If they continue like this next week we can start practicing combat. Put everything back where it was before you left," said Noah.
The group immediately dispersed, the boys and girls looking excited to get out of the training room. After putting away the equipment, most of them greeted the coach before leaving, the others passed him by with their heads bowed, not daring to look him in the eye.
The moment he was left alone, Noah closed his eyes and smiled, he could finally be calm, he missed the company of silence. He took a few minutes to relax, then work began.
If there's one thing his father had impressed on his mind, and he agreed with it, it's that one should keep the training space clean. The little voice in his head asking him to check that the students put their equipment away in the correct place and to clean the floor was too insistent, so as always, he did what his mind asked.
"Do you need any help with that?"
Someone asked, interrupting Noah's work. The young man lifted his head, in front of him was Bertram. Considering that he hadn't heard the noise from the door, he imagined that the newcomer used a portal to appear there.
