The first day of school. My long blonde hair was messy as heck and I knew that people would question my maroon red eyes. I was an orphan. No family. The orphanage was the closest thing I have to a home.
"Hey Jordyn breakfast is ready!" Charlotte called. Charlotte was the closest thing I have to a mother. She ran the orphanage and cared for all of us. All four of us. It was a small orphanage but it was a good one never the less. I walked down the stairs into the kitchen. With her kind brown eyes and long brown hair anyone could tell who she was from 3 hundred miles away. Charlotte was washing dishes and cleaning up the room. No matter how often we offered to help with the chores, Charlotte always refused.
"Please don't tell me you're wearing that to school." She said glaring at my tan cargo shorts, unbuttoned blue button up shirt, and black spaghetti strap tank top.
"Whats wrong with it? Its me." I asked. She chuckled.
"For one on those shorts there's a small mud stain from a year ago. It's your freshman year. You're not a middle schooler anymore and today you're starting the greatest adventure of your life." Charlotte said with the kindest smile on her face.
"Is today the day you finally tell me about my parents?" I asked picking up the a biscuit from the counter.
"No. Maybe tomarrow. Maybe. Here's your bag, go to school you trouble maker." She said as a joke handing me my green backpack. I fixed my hair and walked out the door eating my biscuits. Today was going to be a long day.
My schedule wasn't so bad. Band, Algebra 1, lunch, English, and Animation. A day. Then on B days I had Art, Science, lunch, and history, and homeroom. I went through my half day schedule going to all of my classes, getting my locker etc, etc. Lunch came around and I sat with Lizzy, Izy, and Kyla. I lived with the three of them all my life and strangely we never got on each others nerves. We considered each other family even though none of us were related. There was Lizzy, with her natural musical talents long bobish brown hair, and brown eyes. Then there was Izzy, black hair brown eyes and adorable kid like face. Not to forget Kyla, blonde hair and brown eyes. Kayla and I would always be getting into trouble going places we weren't supposed to, nwver got caught. Not once. We all were good writers. The difference between those three and I was that I knew my parents are dead. Kyla, Jazmine, and Lizzy they all knew that their parents were alive and well. Their parenrs even wrote letters to them. As for me I saw my parents be killed right in front of me as a small three year old.
"Oh look Kristen, its the orphans." Briannna said. Kristen and Brianna both had oblivious fake blonde hair. They're your typical rude popular girls.
"Go away you two." I said. "Before I make you." My pupils slimmed down like a snake's. I could make my pupils slim down if I wanted.
"Freak. Witch? Heck I don't know but I don't like it! Come on Brianna!" Kristen said running away from us with Brianna.
"I still have no idea how you do that." Izy said.
School ended finally and I started to walk to my job. I had a gig not far from here. I was a DJ. DJ Shadow to be exact. As I was walking down the sidewalk I had ran into some unwanted trouble.
Five boys my age with knives in their hands had cornered a little girl and her small papillon puppy in a basket.
"Look boys. Poor little girl with no one to help her." The one leading them had said. Memories flashed through my mind from when I was a little girl. Anger filled my emotions as I pulled two Desert Eagle twin pistols out of my short pockets.
"Put. The. Knives. Down. And leave her alone. Now." I threatened fighting back tears. One of the thugs grabbed the girl and put the blade of the knife at her throat. I put my guns away sprinting at the guy and hit several pressure points causing him to fall to yhe ground. All of them quickly ran away in fear. I ran to the little girl noticing a semi deep cut on her shoulder and down her arm. Tears fell down her face.
"Thank you miss." She said. "I was so scared before you came and saved me. I don't know what they wanted." She lughtly gripped her puppy.
"What's your name?" I asked tending to her wound.
"Makayla. And this is Lily. When the man dropped the knive it cut me. Will I die?"
"No, no. Makayla you won't die. I'll make sure of that." I reassured. I looked in the basket to see a needle in a small corner. I had taken off my button up shirt and put it on the wound. "Makayla you wouldn't have any thread would you?" I asked.
"I have a really long loose string on my dress. But how will that help?" She asked handing me the string. It was about a foot long. Perfect. I strung the thread through the needle and stiched up the wound. "I am sorry if this hurts." I said replying to her pain and tying the thread in a knot. It was poor but I wanted her parents to know what was going on before I took her to a hospital.
"Where are your parents?" I asked.
"I don't have any." She replied. She was just like me. I pulled out my phone and called Charlotte. I told her the situation.
"Run as fast as you can and get her to the nearest hospital. You're on Second Street correct? Go across tge street and I will meet you at Leon County Hospital." I ran. And ran. And ran. I checked Makayla into the emergency room. Hours past and Makayla finally got real stitches.
"Sorry it took so long. Your stitches were pretty good for someone who isn't in any medical branch. Well done. Unfortunately, she's unconscious but she's lost a pint of blood. Thats alot for a three year old. Well sinc3 the kid has no parents or gardians I guess she is under you Charlotte." The doctor had said.
"Charlotte?" I asked in concern.
"Hmm?" She replied.
"Sonething happened."
"What do you mean. Like now?"
"It happened when I was a little girl. And last year. Suddenly while I was angry everything just went black. The first time it was just for a second. Then when it happened again last year it was for 10 seconds. But today I lost control for a half minute. I was scared to tell you at first but now I'm afraid that I will lose control for longer periods. Hours, days, even weeks. Something tells me that you know something about this. Something tells me that it has to do with my parents."
"This morning I had said that today you're starting the greatest adventure of your life, but I didn't think something like this would happen any time soon. You're Hade's daughter." Charlotte said. "And your family... has a curse."
