the koopa keep

i trudged through the forest, kicking back everything that came in my way; vines, cobwebs, it was a long trail. i walked for a day or two and stopped to eat every 12 hours as i had little food with me.

eventually, i finally arrived at the king koopa's lair. i was petrified, the size of the castle was small, maybe bowser was compensating for something? i laughed at my own joke and walked 200 steps of stairs to the castle door. it was bright green with elaborate scales and it was nearly twenty times my height. i was barely up to the door knobs because of the immense height it was up to, golden rings on each side of the double doors. suddenly, while i was admiring the door, two dry bone koopas took hold of me and handcuffed me!

"what's going on?!" i wailed at the top of my lungs. the handcuffs were tight around my nimble wrists and i was almost shaking out of fear. is this my end? is this what i came to in my life? i was so scared i felt my hairs inching high on my back. i began to scream, squirming around as much as i could and kicking my legs like a younger sibling. i fell to the ground, defeated and about to give up my life forever.
suddenly, the dry bone koopas came to a stop, as did i when we all heard a mighty roar from the other end of the door.

"LET HER GO!"

i was quickly uncuffed, and i was shaking because of how scared i was. the voice lead to a tall, beastly, humongous creature. his claws were sharp enough to rip through trees and his teeth were even sharper. they were pearly white and he had a sinister grin plastered on his face. i saw his creamy yellow body and it was so big, too big for me. i looked up in fear, and gulped loudly. i swallowed the huge lump in my throat, but it didn't seem to leave me.
"are you this bowser everybody is asking me to speak to?" i asked, sheepishly cowering beneath him. i managed to get up from the floor but i still felt diminished compared to him.

"of course i am. i am, the one and only!" he growled, "you don't look like a puny mushroom to me, but you still look worthless." he lifted my chin up, and i gazed into his dreamy ruby eyes. even though he was degrading me, it kind of turned me on. i gathered my thoughts back and stopped almost drooling at the sight of this monster.

"tell me your name, princess" he declared, making sure our eyes never left each other. i fumbled for a second, my mind went completely blank.
"i'm not a princess, but my name is y/n." i stuttered.

"well, you look like a princess to me. you've come a long way, let's get you cleaned up before we discuss important matters. my koopa's will escort you to my master chambers." bowser asserted me. i was shocked by how kind he was being to me, everybody said he was a monster! but the way he spoke to me was like no man ever before. i almost blushed, but kept my composure.

the koopa's led me to the chambers, and i was amazed. there was dark red striped painted across the walls, so finely i couldn't even tell it was paint. the room looked as if it had never been set foot in, and i was probably right as bowser seemed careless with his other spare rooms. i wondered to myself, what the master bedroom he uses the most looks like.

suddenly, one of the koopa's turned and announced something to me.
"take a shower and clean yourself up, all of the products you need will be given to you afterwards. bowser would like to dine with you in sharply half an hour, so be ready for then as we will come pick you up to escort you shortly. do not be late, he's rather... impatient."

they left shortly after, and i got myself into the shower. the warm water turned on and immediately felt as if my skin was being melted. it was the most heavenly wash i'd ever been given. i grew up extremely poor and this had been such kind treatment regardless of how careless this "bowser" may be.

all this thought about him and his kind gestures so far had made my heart thump a little louder...
