i stepped out of the shower and was ready before half an hour. because of this, i decided to go for a walk around the castle. it was even bigger than it seemed on the outside, and i walked past many koopas that gave me strange looks. i ignored them, having a sense of safety knowing that bowser would protect me. however, this feeling of safety disappeared in a small amount of time when one of the kameks had charged straight for me. i was frozen in my place and felt as if i couldn't breathe.

suddenly, i heard the ground thump. i looked away in fear but as soon as i turned back, bowser had the kamek by the collar.
"now, now. is that really a way to treat a princess?" he stated. he exhaled his fiery breath at the kamek, burning it to ashes. i stood, nimbly and backed away.

bowser looked at me, and i stopped moving. his glare was deadly, and i knew he was impatient. immediately, i realised what i had done. i wasn't late, but i had walked away without even having permission to do so.
"i'm sorry, please don't hurt me!" i cried out, hoping he would go easy on me.

bowser ran straight towards me, i felt the ground shake. i couldn't move again as my body froze, but he grabbed my neck and lifted me up. i must've been about five foot above ground and i could see the fury in his red eyes.
"this is your last chance, princess. do NOT disobey me again. i thought you'd have some common sense but it appears not, how pathetic."
his voice was laced with venom. i was taken back by how cruel he sounded. a tear fell from my emerald green eye, and bowser's gaze softened.

"i'm sorry, my lady. you're just lucky i saved you, otherwise you both would've been dead." he exclaimed. i was still shaken, and i was put to the floor. my wet silky hair was flowing as he put me down, and he noticed this.
bowser leaned down and twirled my hair.
"are you ready to dine with me, princess?" he asked, taking my hand and kissing it.

it felt like everything he had done before was good intentions, but i couldn't be fooled. his tricks wouldn't work on someone like me. i had just experienced what his true colours may be and everything he said before almost felt too good to be true.
i had to remember that i was here for a quest, to find out the shortage of green mushrooms.

"we're here for important matters, remember? no flirting, let's discuss while dining." i said, coldly turning away to make sure that he took the hint.

bowser grabbed my chin again, and his claw almost cut my jawline.
"of course princess, i couldn't agree more." he smirked. although i didn't express this, my heart skipped a beat. i had to stay focused though, for the sake of my kingdom. bowser led me to the dining room where we sat opposite each other on an extremely long table. i was given a five course meal made by what was supposedly the best chef in the lair.

as great as the food looked, i felt unsure. i looked towards bowser who was feasting like the king he was.
bowser noticed my hesitance and chuckled softly.
"you really think i'd poison you if i didn't know what you were for yet?" he asked, taking a huge bite out of a steak. i giggled nervously before taking a tiny bite of a pea, just to make sure. luckily enough, it was safe. i began to eat, but i was full before the second plate. bowser stood up, and strolled towards me.

"so, what have you exactly came to discuss with me, y/n?" he leaned closer, whispering in my ear. i felt shivers down my spine, but had to keep it professional.

although i was trying my best to keep my composure, he still flattered me. i timidly looked away,
"i've been sent by princess peach, to know if you had anything to do with the green mushroom shortages." i explained quietly. he suddenly rolled his eyes and stomped back to his seat, far away.
he chomped a steak for a split second before groaning in annoyance.

"ugh, peach." he scoffed.
"i had a feeling she sent you here." he says with a mouthful of food. i was curious for a moment before he explained.
"me and peach have a long history. i'd rather not discuss it in front of a young lady like yourself." bowser sighed, being the one to look away for the first time.

i felt a wave of guilt, but suddenly jealously. i was confused why i was feeling so bitter about the mention of princess peach herself having history with bowser, but he smiled and looked at me quickly changing his mood to lighten the atmosphere.
"i'm over her now, though. i have someone else in mind." he winked at me.
i blushed slightly, but pulled myself together. i was not going to let myself crack just yet.

"back to business for now then." i shyly exclaimed. "tell me, do you have anything to do with the mushroom shortages?" i pushed away the plates in front of me and leaned my hands on the table. i rested my chin in my palms and waited for bowser to finish his fifth plate. he licked it clean before looking deeply into my eyes again.

"i'll tell you what, peach is always assuming things have to do with me. i've not seen her in years! i have nothing to do with the shortages; i don't even use green mushrooms as i don't need to. my army is far too powerful!" he laughed loudly. he then changed his facial expression to a more confused one,
"why would she send a princess like you here anyway?" he scoffed again.

"i'm not a princess!" i rolled my eyes, "i'm the only human except for her, so she sent me incase you killed any of our toads." i explained, looking away and twirling my navy blue hair again.

"you sure look like one to me," he flirted. "it seems to me that peach is getting a little envious of your looks. i don't blame her."

i stood up, immediately doubting my thoughts and wanting to leave. i had all the information i needed and i didn't want to carry on with this flirty game that bowser insisted on playing.
"i want to leave now, i have what i need to know. thank you" i professionaly announced. i made sure to clean my mouth with a napkin before nodding and turning around to exit the hall.

"you can't leave, it's thundering like crazy!" he shouted, almost seeming worried about me. it made me feel that strange sense of safety but i ignored it and left anyway. although i was absolutely petrified of thunder, i had to get out of here as fast as possible.

the koopa's opened the giant door for me, and as soon as i stepped out a strike of lightning almost hit my head. i screamed, closing my eyes and squinting. i unknowingly jumped somewhere, and fluttered open my eyes to find that i was in bowser's manly arms.

"well," he chuckled,
"look's like you're staying with me for the night. i'll escort you to your room."
