At first I thought I imagined it. I told myself that I was hearing her voice because that's what I wanted not because it was reality. But hesitantly I turned around.

"Hello" I heard again. I looked up scared for what I was about to see knowing that if her eyes were still closed and I was imagining this it would break my heart even more. But my eyes met hers and this explosion of butterflies erupted from my stomach.

Just as I had heard her voice, Amanda came through the door and burst into tears at the sight of her baby girl being awake.

A: Leah bubba you're awake

Leah just looks at us, plainly. I gave Amanda the "what's going on" look and she gave it straight back to me. I look down at Leah.

B: I'm so happy you're awake

There's that look again. As if Leah has no idea what's going on.

L: Not to be rude but who are you two?
A: Leah now is not the time to be joking around
L: No I'm not joking, who are you both?
B: I'm going to get the doctor

I rush out of the room and straight to reception to find the doctor. I had to wait 5 mins but finally the doctor came.

Doctor: Hello Bella, what's wrong?
B: Leah has woken up but she doesn't know who me or her mum are. Can you come in here please?

The doctor got to Leah and she asked him who he was. He maturely explained to her what happened and how she ended up in hospital. She looks confused. Introducing himself me and Amanda to Leah she started to cry.

L: My mind is completely blank. Why is it like this? Who even am I?
A: You my darling are Leah Catherine Williamson, star defender for Arsenal and captain of your national team, England.
L: I play football?
B: Yes Le and you're amazing at it. I'm on your team.
L: You're pretty

So you're telling me this perfect girl has forgetting everything about her existence but she is still calling me pretty.

B: Thank you Le

I couldn't help but blush. For a second I completely forgot that the doctor and Amanda were in the room.

Doctor: We are going to perform an MRI to try and assess how bad the memory loss will be short term and long term. We should have results within the next few hours.
A: Thank you doctor

Leah went for her scan and came back. We sat for hours answering any questions Leah has for us about her and about us. She seemed quite intrigued to know about us. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to not remember your life and the people in it.

B: I'm going to go and have a shower at home, do you guys need me to bring anything?
A: Could you bring Leah some pyjamas please darling?
B: Of course I can, I'll see you soon Le okay?
L: Hurry up beautiful
B: I will

I went home, had a shower and packed Leah's stuff up for her. As I went back downstairs, Beth and Katie were in the living room. They both looked at me expecting some good news. That I didn't really have.

Beth: So Bella come on tell us she's going to be alright
B: She is okay

Their faces lit up.

B: But
Katie: What do you mean but?
B: Leah has no memory
Beth: WHAT
B: She didn't know who she was or I was or even her mum was
Katie: Is it long term?
B: We don't know yet, they did an MRI today, when I go back I'll find out from the doctor.
Beth: Well make sure you tell her about all of us
Katie: Especially me
B: I will do guys don't worry. I'll give you a call when I have some news.

I made sure I remembered Leah's bag and set off back to the hospital. I got there quickly as there was no traffic, parked the car and headed straight inside.

Entering the room that Leah was in, the first thing I noticed was Leah's beaming smile.

L: Oh hi you, you took agesssss
B: I was about an hour Leah calm down
L: Did you get my pjs?
B: Of course I did

I handed her the bag and she continued asking questions.

L: So who are you to me?
B: Your team mate that you're in love with, well at least you were
L: I don't blame myself really you're beautiful
B: These compliments Williamson, you're making me blush
L: So you play for Arsenal too?
B: Yes I do, I transferred in the winter transfer window and we just won the Arnold Clark Cup together
L: Wow I can't believe I'm this famous person

We spent hours laughing and joking, getting to know each other once again. I hope her memory loss isn't long lasting but I must admit that I'm enjoying this stage we're in where it's like we've met for the first time. She has no memory of all of the times we have argued, walked away from each other and how messed up I can be.

It got to around 9pm and the doctor came in just as Amanda left the room. He gave us the results of the MRI scan and the conclusion that have come to.

Doctor: From our test, we can tell you that we think the damage to the memory will only be short lasting and in the next week, two weeks Leah's memory will start to patch back together. This might be overwhelming for you when it happens Leah but as long as you are with people who support you. You'll manage it well, I'm sure.

This was a relief to both Leah and I. The doctor left and Leah turned to me.

L: Are you staying with me tonight then?
B: I'm hardly gonna leave you on your own am I?
L: I'm not stupid, I can handle it on my own
B: Oh so you want me to go?
L: I never said that, I want you to stay
B: Right well shut up and budge over
