An old man ran out of the shop displaying meat before looking around the crowded streets. His eyes laid on the small child with the short, spiky, sandy blond hair with choppy bangs that hung over his eyebrows trying to disappear into the crowd. "Get back here, you little thief." The old man shouted with fury in his voice before he started charging toward the young boy with the oversized green jacket that hung down to his knees.
The young child was running as fast as his tiny legs could carry him, but he knew it was only a matter of time before the butcher would catch up to him. The boy's sharp bright eyes frantically looked around the small village trying to find any way he could escape. It didn't take long before he spotted a small gap in between two buildings that he could wedge himself through. He darted toward the small space. He laid his body straight, having the walls touch both his chest and back. It was a snug fit. The old man ran over before seeing the child shuffling to the other side. "You damn brat. The next time I see you, I'll beat you black and blue." The man shouted furiously.
The child slipped out of the crack, onto the other street that was more crowded. He started weaving through them before getting to a familiar alley with boxes stacked on top of each other, building a fort. The boy walked further into the alley before stopping close to the fort. He leaned his exhausted body against the wall, sliding down to the floor. He pulled his jacket away from his body before shoving his small hand into an inside pocket. The boy pulled out a little drumstick, clearly belonging to a small chicken.
The boy pulled the meat close before taking a bit out of the raw flesh. His nose scrunched up at the distasteful meat but his body insisted he continued to eat. He started tearing through the meat, not leaving a scrap on the bone. The child then started chewing on the bone.
"Look, I told you he would be here." The boy's head perked up when he heard familiar voices. He turned his head to see the children of the village. There were about 4 little boys with 2 smaller girls. They all looked around his age. "You were right." One of the girls spoke. "He looks like a stray dog." The second girl mocked, causing the lonely boy to glare. He spits out the bone, letting it drop on the ground before he pushed himself up.
He recognized the young child standing in front of the other kids. He couldn't forget that dirty brown hair kid that hurt him the other day. "What do you want?" His red eyes were unwelcoming. The brown-haired boy smirked before punching his hand. "Me and my friends here are gonna teach you a lesson. You'll learn not to hurt me ever again." The child glared at him and the other 3 boys started approaching the young child.
The lone boy started growling like a dog, warning them not to get close. "Is he growling?" The first girl huffed. "I heard there were werewolves spotted in the forest close to the village. If we tell some adults, they'll mistake this boy for a werewolf." The second one joked, making her and the other girl crackle. The sand-blond hair boy lifted his fist in the air, keeping his attention on the 4 boys. "I'll make you regret hurting me." The brown hair boy shouted before he started charging towards the younger boy with his fist in the air.
The growling boy quickly dodged the attack but moved his head to the side. He took the opportunity to slam his fist deep into the boy's stomach. The brown-haired boy stumbled back, clenching his stomach. "Oh, you're gonna get it." The 3 charged at the small boy, throwing their fists at him, only to miss all their hits.
"Grab his arms." The brown hair boy shouted before the 3 tackled the small boy. Each one jumped on his arms while the 3rd one jumped on his legs. "Let go." The blond child shouted, trying his hardest to pull his arms away but the kids put their weight on him. The brown hair boy pushed his body off the ground before whipping off the dirty. "Ha, look like we caught a werewolf." He mocked as he walked over to the boy pinned on the ground.
The child lifted his foot in the air before stomping down on the blond boy. "Argh." The air was knocked out of the boy's lungs. "Something wrong?" The brown-haired boy's grin stretched from ear to ear as he continued to lift his foot in the air and stomp on the smaller boy.
"Careful. You might kill him." The first girl grew worried as she watched the violence before her. "It's fine. Werewolves can't die unless shot with a silver bullet." He spoke, continuing to trample on the child underneath him. "Don't you think if he was a real werewolf, the vampires would have found him? They protect humans from the flesh-devouring beast. He's not a werewolf." The second girl shouted, worried that the boys were gonna kill the child.
"He's fine, aren't ya." He turned his attention back to the boy underneath him. He quickly stopped his foot when he saw blood leaking out of the small boy's mouth. "He's coughing blood." The first girl screamed. "We're out of here." The second girl grabbed her friend before they started running away.
The brown-haired boy laid his foot on the ground. "I've had enough. You learned your lesson. Mess with me again, and I'll leave you more broken." He threatened before turning away from the child. He lifted his hand, motioning it for the others to follow. They quickly jumped off the blond boy before rushing over to the brown-haired boy's side. It didn't take long before the boy was alone in the alley.
He sat up before whipping the drop of blood off his lips. He looked down at his shirt seeing it was all dirty. "If I was coughing blood, I'd be dead soon." He glared at the ground as he lifted his hand to his jaw. He could feel the tiny cut on his lip that stung from the dirt. He turned his attention to his shirt. He reached down before grabbing it, lifting it to look at the soon-to-be bruises. "This could have killed me, assholes." He whimpered before dropping the shirt.
He turned his crimson eyes to look at the blood on his hand. "Crap, what if a vampire smells me?" The boy started freaking out before he jumped on his feet. He ran over to the entrance of the alley before peeking his head out. He looked around the street before he started walking towards the well. He wanted to wash the scent quickly.
