Todoroki returned to the mansion, his clothes stained with the remnants of the recent battle with the werewolves. His mind was weary from the fight, and he longed for a hot bath to wash away the grime. However, as he stepped through the grand entrance, he noticed an unusual commotion among the vampire servants. Their usually calm demeanor was replaced by frantic movements and whispered conversations.
He approached a servant with auburn hair, recognizing her as Uraraka. "Uraraka," he called out, his voice steady but concerned. "What's going on?"
Uraraka turned to him, her eyes wide with worry. "Lord Todoroki, I'm so sorry," she began, wringing her hands. "It's Bakugou. The little werewolf has disappeared. We believe he's hiding somewhere in the mansion, but we can't find him."
Todoroki felt a knot of anxiety tighten in his chest. "What frightened him?" he asked, his tone edged with urgency.
Uraraka shook her head, her expression troubled. "We don't know. He was fine earlier, but then he just vanished."
Todoroki sighed deeply. He wanted nothing more than to wash away the night's events, but he couldn't ignore the fact that Bakugou was missing. "I'll find him," he said, his voice resolute. "Thank you, Uraraka."
Without wasting another moment, Todoroki began his search. He walked through the grand hallways, his sharp senses attuned to any sign of Bakugou. He focused on the boy's scent, a unique blend of the forest and something distinctly wolfish. It wasn't long before he caught a faint trace, leading him deeper into the mansion.
He followed the scent to a large, elegantly decorated bedroom. The room was silent, the air thick with the mingling aromas of polished wood and lavender. Todoroki's keen eyes scanned the room, finally landing on the edge of the bed. Kneeling down, he lifted the bed skirt and peered underneath.
"Bakugou?" he called softly.
From the shadows, a pair of wide, fearful eyes met his. Slowly, Bakugou crawled out from under the bed, his small body trembling. Without a word, he ran to Todoroki, clutching his leg tightly.Todoroki scooped Bakugou up, holding him close. "What happened?" he asked gently, brushing a hand through Bakugou's hair.
Bakugou's voice was small and quivering. "It's scary here," he whispered. "A mansion full of vampires... I thought you left me. Please, don't ever leave me again."
Todoroki's heart ached at the sight of Bakugou's tears. He held the boy tighter, feeling the fragile trust they had built teetering on the edge. "I'm so sorry, Bakugou," he said softly. "I won't leave you again. I promise."
Bakugou buried his face in Todoroki's shoulder, his sobs muffled but heart-wrenching. Todoroki stood, carrying him out of the room and through the quiet hallways. He moved with purpose, heading towards his own quarters where he could keep a close eye on Bakugou.
Once they reached Todoroki's room, he set Bakugou down gently on the bed. The boy looked up at him, his eyes red and puffy from crying. "You won't leave?" Bakugou asked again, his voice small and fearful.
Todoroki knelt beside the bed, taking Bakugou's hand in his. "I won't leave," he assured, his voice firm and comforting. "You're safe here with me."
Bakugou sniffled, his grip on Todoroki's hand tightening. "Promise?"
"I promise," Todoroki said, his heart heavy with the weight of that vow.
Todoroki waited patiently as Bakugou's breathing slowed and deepened, signaling that the young werewolf had finally fallen asleep. He carefully rose from the bed, intending to take a much-needed bath to wash away the remnants of the night's battle. However, as he reached the door, a small whine stopped him in his tracks.
"Todoroki?" Bakugou's voice was drowsy, tinged with fear. "Where are you going? You promised not to leave me."
Todoroki turned back, his expression softening. "I'm not leaving you, Bakugou. I just wanted to let you rest. I'm going to take a bath."
Bakugou, still groggy, slipped off the bed and wobbled over to Todoroki. "I'm not letting you leave me," he insisted, clutching Todoroki's shirt.
Todoroki sighed gently, bending down to pick him up. "I'm dirty, Bakugou. I need to take a bath."
Bakugou looked up at him, eyes half-closed with exhaustion. "Then I'll take a bath with you."
Todoroki couldn't help but smile at the determination in Bakugou's voice. He realized that the tired boy wasn't going to let him out of his sight. "Alright," he said softly. "Let's go take a bath."
He carried Bakugou to the bathroom, the warmth of the boy's small body a comforting presence against him. Once inside, Todoroki set Bakugou down and began to fill the tub with warm water. Bakugou watched, his eyelids drooping, as Todoroki undressed and then helped him out of his clothes.
They both settled into the bath, the warm water soothing Todoroki's tense muscles. Bakugou clung to him, his eyes closing as he rested his head against Todoroki's chest. The bath was quiet, the only sounds being the gentle splash of water and Bakugou's soft breathing.
After a while, Todoroki carefully lifted Bakugou out of the tub and wrapped him in a fluffy towel. He sat on a stool, drying Bakugou's hair with gentle strokes. The boy was barely awake, his head nodding as Todoroki worked.
Just as Bakugou's head began to droop, Todoroki caught it, steadying him. "Sorry," Bakugou mumbled, blinking up at Todoroki. "I'm being a nuisance."
"You're not a nuisance," Todoroki replied, his voice calm and reassuring. "You're tired. It's okay."
Bakugou sat up, and his eyes fell on Todoroki's hand. The bite mark from their earlier encounter had turned black, the surrounding skin bruised and discolored. Bakugou's eyes widened, and he grabbed Todoroki's hand. "What happened?" he asked, his voice rising in alarm. "Did I do this?"
Todoroki hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Yes, Bakugou. A werewolf bite does this to a vampire."
Tears welled up in Bakugou's eyes. "I hurt you," he whispered, his voice breaking. "I'm sorry, Todoroki. I didn't mean to."
Todoroki gently pulled Bakugou into a comforting embrace. "It doesn't hurt, Bakugou. I promise."
But Bakugou shook his head, tears streaming down his face. "I don't believe you. I'm so sorry."
At that moment, the bathroom door opened, and a vampire servant entered, placing a pair of pajamas on the counter. She bowed slightly before exiting, leaving them alone once more. Todoroki reached for the pajamas and began to dress Bakugou, who continued to cry softly, his little body trembling with guilt and fear.
Todoroki worked slowly and gently, speaking soothingly to Bakugou. "You're not to blame, Bakugou. You were scared and acting on instinct. I understand that."
Bakugou sniffled, still looking unconvinced. "But I hurt you."
Todoroki finished buttoning Bakugou's pajamas and picked him up, cradling him close. "Shh, it's okay. I'm not hurt. See?" He gently wiped away Bakugou's tears with his thumb. "Let's get you to bed."
He carried Bakugou back to the bedroom and laid him down, climbing in beside him. Bakugou clung to Todoroki, his sobs gradually subsiding as Todoroki held him. "You're safe, Bakugou. I'm here with you, and I'm not going anywhere."
Todoroki snuggled the crying boy close, running his fingers through Bakugou's hair in a calming rhythm. Gradually, Bakugou's breathing evened out, his grip on Todoroki's shirt loosening as he drifted back to sleep. Todoroki watched over him, his heart filled with a fierce determination to protect the young werewolf.
