Blue woke up early that morning, springing out of bed with an excited smile, not even changing from his pajamas.
The child sprinted out of his room, down the stairs and into the kitchen.
Oh the delicious smell of his favorite cookies being prepared for him warmed his body.
─ Happy 8th Birthday, Blue! ─ His mom smiled, placing the plate of cookies on the table for him.
Blue wasted no time to dig in, shoving two cookies into his mouth as fast as he could.
Steel, his dad, walked into the kitchen with a yawn, patting Blue on the head as he stole one of the cookies. ─ Now is the birthday boy ready for school?
Blue whined softly. ─ I have to go to school on my birthday??
─ Yes you do, me and your father will have to go out today so we can celebrate after school. ─ His mom kissed his forehead softly, putting a gift box on the table by the cookie plate.
Blue's eyes went wide and shiny, excitedly reaching for the box and ripping the packaging open.
Inside he found a yellow robot, it wasn't very big but it looked very shiny. A big smile came to the child's face. ─ Thanks you!
Steel smiled, before looking down at his watch and grimacing. ─ Alright Blue, go get changed, we're gonna be late.
His mom rushed him out after he grabbed another cookie. Blue ran up to his bedroom, rushing to grab some clothes.
It must have taken him less than a minute to get ready and grab his backpack. But he did take a moment to decide if he wanted to bring his new robot or not. He grabbed it anyway and ran to the car.
His dad was already inside, waiting for him.
Blue sat on the front seat, his backpack on his lap as his dad drove away.
His new robot beeped and lit up every time he pressed the black button on its back, something Blue found greatly amusing through the entire trip.
It distracted him so much that he didn't notice how fast his dad was driving, not until he hit a bump and Blue accidentally dropped his robot.
The toy clanked as it fell, but Blue couldn't exactly see where it had landed. ─ Dad, my robot fell! ─ He whined softly, but they had already stopped at the school.
─ You are already late for school, you can find it later, Blue. ─ His dad brushed him off, making the child pout but accepted that he wouldn't be able to show off his toy today.
Blue got out of the car, waving at his dad as he ran inside.
The day was, in Blue's opinion, the best day ever.
Every teacher sang happy birthday to him and his colleagues all played with him during lunch time.
Everything was going great! Until the principal came to the door of his classroom.
─ Blue, your Aunt is here to take you home. ─ He said simply, looking at the child with a saddened look.
Blue didn't understand why, but followed after him anyway.
As promised, he found his aunt Mint sitting in the principal's office, she looked distraught and immediately hugged her nephew when he walked inside.
