Katiya ran along the shore, her feet kicking up the sand as she chased Aonung, starlight illuminating their silhouettes in the distance.
The gap between them and the village widened as Aonung ran blindly into the distance, not knowing where he was going.
There was no other light source than the bioluminescent glow of the sea, the reflective markings on their bodies, and the stars above them.
After running for a while, Aonung abruptly stopped and turned around. Katiya's eyes widened as she nearly collided with him. In a split second, she stopped her momentum on her tiptoes.
Both of them took a moment to catch their breath, only their heavy breathing and the nearby overlapping waves being heard.
"Do... Do that again... and I will kill you," Katiya heaved, exhausted from the run.
Aonung stared at her, his chest still heaving. He opened his mouth to say something but hesitated and closed it again. Then he reached forward and flicked her forehead.
She let out a surprised yelp and narrowed her eyes at him.
"What's your problem?! Did you not hear what I just—"
"Kill me then," Aonung taunted, a faint smile on his face as his tongue darted over his lower lip.
She glared at him, fully aware that he was trying to provoke a reaction from her.
"Whatever, I'm going back," she muttered, turning to leave.
"See what I mean?" He chuckled, spreading his arms. "You're just proving my point, sweetheart. All you girls say one thing, but do another."
Katiya stood still, biting her lip in irritation. She flipped back around and looked him in the eye. His arms dropped back to his side as Katiya walked up to him, closing the gap between them.
"And you know what? You came from one of us," she scoffed, nodding her head. "Yeah, you came from a woman's vagina."
Aonung was momentarily taken aback before a small smile tugged at his lips. He held her gaze for a moment, then turned around and walked into the distance again.
"Well, you know what put you in there?" He asked, a playful tone in his voice as he put his hands behind his head. "A man's dick, sweetheart. You also came from a man."
His smile grew when he heard her footsteps follow him along the sand. He glanced over his shoulder, and he saw a disgruntled expression on her face.
She was absolutely ticked off, rendered speechless for once in her life by the person she currently despised the most.
He chuckled to himself and turned back to the horizon. He could feel her anger radiating off her body, but he chose to ignore it. He had long become used to her disdainful attitude.
"Congratulations. Your name just made it to the top of my list of things I hate," Katiya muttered angrily, drilling holes into the back of his head.
She then pointed out the shortcomings of men while he retorted with the faults of women. Almost immediately, the two returned to their previous bickering.
They became frustrated at each other as Katiya continued to ramble on, following Aonung. He tried to speak by talking over her, but she ignored him and continued stating her points, further increasing his frustration.
"Alright, that's it," Aonung muttered, turning on his heel to face her after finally having had enough.
"—turn around and look for another girl instead. Even the mountain banshees are better than you. Once they choose you, they're loyal to you forever. They stick to one flyer for the rest of their life until they die," Katiya continued, completely oblivious to his actions.
