LUCIEN VITTORI

As I reached the basement, I checked the wall where I had shot the guy. The body was gone, and most of the blood was cleaned off. There was a smell of disinfectant in the air. There was no evidence that anything happened.

"Fuck..." I grunted. I brought my right hand up and rubbed it.

"Lucien..." Father said. I turned and saw him standing behind me.

"What?" I replied.

"Why?" He asked.

"Why what? Stop being cryptic."

"We heard you and Danny." Father said.

"He needed to learn the harsh reality." I replied.

"Remember what we talked about when you first decided to date Danny? He's not used to our lifestyle. He grew up living a normal life. We all know that you didn't have a normal life." He said.

"Are you saying he's allowed to disrespect me?" I asked.

"That's not what I'm saying. But I know how you are. We could hear you getting angry at him and refusing to let him go."

"I merely spoke the truth. This life he's getting into isn't serene or peaceful." I said.

"Oh really?" Father asked. He walked over to me and held my shoulder tightly. "Perhaps that might just be a you problem."

"I can find happiness just fine." I yelled back.

"And where does that happiness come from? It certainly doesn't come from weapons or violence."

Father let out another sigh before turning around and walking out of the basement. Once he was gone, I then let out a ragged breath I had been holding in.

I stood in the basement, looking down at my arm with blood on it. It belonged to someone who had just been talking only a few minutes ago. I turned and looked at the place we had been standing at, where I had shot the guy in the head.

I could still hear Danny pleading with me not to shoot the guy. His teary eyes looked at me as he begged for me to spare that guy. However, I didn't listen.

Danny has always been the caring type. He once couldn't look away from a mother bird as she fed her babies food. Danny once spent 15 minutes looking for an ATM to give money to a homeless guy. He even knows the names of my workers, whom I've never taken the chance to talk to.

It was at that moment that I realized what I had done. While I tried not to, it was heard not to let a few tears escape my eyes. I vowed to protect him and instead hurt him.

I knew what I needed to do. I needed to apologize. Apologize and hope that it's not too late and Danny will see my flaws. I don't expect him to accept my apology. My flaws are an explanation but not an excuse. I hurt him in a way that I never should have.
