DANIEL HARPER-VITTORI

My phone began to ring while I was still drinking my coffee. I stopped my groaning when I saw it was Lucien calling me. This was strange, as he was still supposed to be in his meeting.

"Hello!" I said.

"Hey, baby." Lucien said. "I miss you."

I chuckled to myself. "Is that why you called me? Because you miss me?" I asked.

"Obviously. You're my damn husband! Of course I'm going to call you if I ever need to hear your voice." He replied. "Are we still on for dinner tonight?" He asked.

"Yup! 7 at Locanda Verde. Make sure you wear your best outfit."

"I will," He said. "I have to hang up. Make sure Mr. Maggio sends those forms to the legal firm so they can review the documents over. I better not have a lawsuit on my hands or I'm punishing you."

I let out a fake gasp, knowing exactly what kind of 'punishments' he would have in mind. I ended the phone call after our farewells. The driver, God bless him who has to hear my conversations, parked in the parking lot of the building and I got out.

The lobby of the building was large with its black marble walls and a large fountain in the middle. Employees going about their own agendas walked around with files in their hands or on important phone calls.

I took the elevator ride up to the floor. After finishing my coffee inside, I threw the empty cup into a nearby trash bin and began to walk to my office.

"Mr. Harper-Vittori!" Keara Powell, my assistant, called out to me.

"Yes, Ms. Powell?" I replied. She was panting while catching up to me.

"Damn! It's true. Gay men are fast walkers." She said. I slowed down and allowed her to catch up to me. She then handed me a few papers from her hand. "Here are the revisions that we made to the website. We should be able to handle a bit more traffic now."

"Thank you." I said. "Make an appointment with Mr. McClair. Tell his assistant we'll be going over the revisions and small updates to the site. This is for his company, afterall."

Keara nodded and left to sit at her desk. I entered my office and let out a sigh of relief. Only a few more hours until I can return home to my husband.

While I waited for confirmation about the meeting, I looked at the photos I had hung on my wall. Most of them were with me and Lucien, either during our dates or special events.

One of them, right next to my diploma, was me and him at my graduation. He was lifting me up in the air, almost showing me off that I was his proudest joy. I still remember that entire week. He rented out an entire theme park and also treated me like a king.

Another picture on the wall was me, Lucien, and Angie back in Italy. This was the summer when I graduated. We visited his family and I got to see everyone again. I met up with Aria, Lucien's cousin, and got to meet her son.
