REVY AMARA
It took me two grueling days to reach the Nemesis claimed Perseus was hiding. My serpents, acting as natural compasses, quickly sniffed out the easiest path through the treacherous terrain. Eventually, we found it.
A massive boulder blocked the gaping entrance of this hidden cave. Crossing my arms over my chest, I summoned a serpent.I commanded the beast to strike. It rammed the stone with terrifying force, shattering the boulder into a million jagged pieces.
Darkness embraced me as I stepped over the rubble, but my enhanced vision immediately locked onto the silhouette of a man standing deeper in the shadows.
"The great Perseus," I purred, entering the cavern with slow, elegant strides.
He turned around to face me. Now I was looking directly at the face of the man who had severed my mother's head. "I've been waiting for you for a long time," he said, his voice unsettlingly calm. Like he knew that I will came to face him.
He already knows about me? A prickle of unease brushed past my anger. Had the gods known of my existence all this time? If so, how?
"Awaiting your death, I assume?" I retorted, doing my absolute best to conceal the flash of confusion swirling inside me.
Perseus threw his head back and laughed a loud, booming sound that echoed off the cave walls. I could have finished him right here by forcing him to look into my eyes and turning him to stone. But not yet.
There was still vital information I needed to rip out of him first. "Kill me? Who do you think you are?" he scoffed, his expression twisting into something arrogant and prideful. "You're nothing but the daughter of a monster."
I smirked at him. You will deeply regret those words.
I took a few more calculated steps forward to him, closing the distance between us. Once I was close enough to strike I stopped and laced my fingers behind my back, intentionally leaving myself open to give him the illusion of an advantage. I wanted him to attack first.
"I am glad you at least know exactly who you are fighting against," I murmured, my eyes dropping to his hands. I saw him clenched his fist, his knuckles turning white as he gripped the hilt of his legendary sword. He was ready.
"Do you honestly believe that a lowly, half-human like you stands a single chance against me?" he asked.
I burst into laughter. A cold, terrifying sound that rattled the damp walls of the cave. "Oh, the great Perseus. The heroic demigod. The savior who managed to slay a titan using my mother's severed head as a weapon?"
He looked instantly insulted, his eyes flashing with sudden rage.
"You slaughtered a helpless victim to show off to Olympus, and got yourself crowned a hero of the gods," I mocked, shaking my head with a cruel smile. "You truly are amazing, Perseus."
