AMARA

"Welcome back, Amara. And congratulations on your successful mission regarding Perseus," Neme said, swirling her coffee before taking a slow, calculated sip.

I stood in the center of her pristine office, feeling the heavy silence of the room shift around me. Finally, my agonizing suspension days were over. The distractions were gone. Now, I could finally narrow my sights and focus entirely on Cassandra.

"How about we throw a party to celebrate, Neme? I successfully brought Pegasus to my place," I said. I forced a cheerful, bright melody into my voice, but my face remained entirely frozen-blank, dead, and utterly devoid of emotion.

"Where did you hid him?" Her brows furrowed, lines of sudden concern tightening around her eyes.

"In the basement of my mansion. He's completely safe under my roof. Honestly, the poor beast was glad to see me. That fucking praised hero Perseus. he treated a creature of myth like nothing more than a common slave," I said, cold bitterness bleeding into my tone.

"And what about Medusa's head?" she curiously asked, leaning forward. "Did you bring it back with you as well?"

"No." The word slipped out like ice. I walked over to the couch and sank heavily into the cushions, my calm facade finally cracking.

"That Athena! She is using my mother's severed head like a fucking fashion accessory, like a trophy to flaunt. She even managed to put it on her shield just to amplify her own power. Such a weak, pathetic excuse for a Goddess..." The rage boiled over.

"And what are you planning to do now?" Neme stood up from her desk, her sharp eyes scanning my outburst. She walked over and sat right beside me on the couch.

I snapped my head around to face her, the real, burning question finally breaking through my anger. "Neme. How did Perseus even know I existed?"

"Apollo." She said then carefully placed her coffee cup on the glass table in front of us, letting the silence stretch before she spoke again.

"The God of prophecy. He foresaw it all. He knew that a vengeful daughter would rise from the monster's ashes. A daughter destined to wage a brutal, bloody war against the Gods and Goddesses," she casually added.

It infuriated me. How could she sit there and remain so damn calm? "And why the hell didn't you tell me this before?!" I snapped, completely losing my composure as the betrayal stung.

"Amara. I only found out about the prophecy recently, when Perseus called out to me and prayed for my intervention." I forced a ragged breath into my lungs, trying to reel in my spiking temper. I didn't want to start another war inside this office.
