Pains of the past

Coda's POV:
I open my eyes thinking I died from the rubble but really I somehow got my seven foot tall demon form back.

Emi: Coda? Are you in there?

She asked reaching her hand up to my chest while holding an unconious Chiho.

Coda: Yes, I'm still the same kid you know and love.

My brother and I then started clearing the wreckage and I saw my brother put barriers so no humans would get hurt. After we got out I notice Emi worrying about something as I was back to my small form.

Coda: Emi? Are you alright?

Emi: Hm? Yeah, I am.

My brother then came over and explained how this earthquake is anything but natural which confused both her and I.

Sadou: Yup, mostly likely done by a magical interference and all our covers are blown.

Coda: Who could do that?

Emi: Not sure.

We then heard Rika calling as we walk over to her. She invited us to spend the night with her. She even gave us some food to eat as I devour it. After eating I heard them talking about their families and it started to make me think.

Coda: Wonder why my brother never told me about our parents. Who were they?

I thought to myself as Emi went to take a bath.

Coda: Hey Rika, remember how mom said I'm adopted?

Rika: Yeah? What's wrong?

Coda: Is it possible to miss someone even though you never really knew them?

Rika: Are you referring to your birth parents?

I could only nod silently.

Rika: Well, I'm not exactly the best one to talk to about this but if you want to know more about them maybe try talking to someone who may have known them.

That gave me an idea as I hugged Rika before eventually going to bed. We then went to my brothers place the next day since I was off of school due to what happened yesterday. Emi hands him the money she owed him. They started talking but as we were about to leave I stop Emi.

Coda: I need to talk to my brother real quick.

She waited at the door as I go to talk with my brother in private.

Sadou: Ok, what's up? Emi finally drove you nuts or something?

Coda: I wanna know the truth. The truth about our parents. I wanna know what happened to them.

I heard him sigh as he sat down.

Sadou: You were only an infant at the time, not even in your armored form yet. Our village was attacked and basically burnt to the ground. They were killed in it but we luckily managed to escape. I'm sorry I never told you the truth.

I then hug him.

Coda: I get it, you were only trying to protect me.

I felt him return the hug as I got up and left with Emi only for her to fall down the stairs.

Coda: Are you alive?

I ask as they patch up her wounds and start arguing.

Coda: Guys, please stop fighting.

I was just in the corner until Ashia returned but brought Chiho who rushed out after seeing Emi and my brother together. Then some weird thing walks in that I didn't realize was the land lady.

Coda: Dear god what is that?!

I said hiding behind Emi.

Sadou: That's the land lady that owns the building.

She chatted abit before leaving and then we start to go after Chiho and also run into General Lucifer.

Lucifer: Well if it isn't the demon king and the hero.

Coda: He's not alone I sense someone else.

Sadou: Go find safety leave this to us.

I left but not to find safety. I went to find the second person behind this attack. I stop after hearing a gun fire with the bullet just missing my head by an inch.

???: Seems I missed.

I see it's Olba as I got into a defensive stance.

Olba: Funny how the almighty Koragg is now nothing but a mere helpless child. I'm gonna have fun killing you.

Coda: You'll have to catch me first you old geezer.

I said running off using a crowd to hide myself but it was all apart of my plan. He started using gun fire to scare off the crowd which caused chaos to grow in the area I was which allowed me to absorb it and return to my true form once more.

Coda: Now this is more even, wouldn't you say old man?

Olba: You little brat!

He then fired lightning magic at me which I was able to dodge.

Coda: Ha you missed me!

Olba: Little brat!

He starts shouting at me again and one shot hit but didn't do much as I appear behind him and slam him into a building.

Olba: You'll pay for that!

Coda: Cash or Credit?

I ask teasingly.

Olba: What?

He asked confused.

Coda: Boy you god worshippers sure are not that bright huh?

Olba: Why you little brat of a demon!

He said as I was about to finish him off but run out of magic before starting to fall to the ground. As I was about to hit the ground Alciel caught me in his demon form.

Alciel: Are you alright, Dark Prince Koragg.

Coda: Yes, I'm fine. How's my brother and the hero doing?

Alciel: Look for yourself.

He said as I saw my brother has defeated Lucifer and was starting to clean up some of the wreckage. I was taken over to Emi and saw her talking to Emeralda and Albertio. Emi notices me and calls me over.

Albertio: You adopted a human child?

He asked confused.

Emi: Well not exactly.

Emeralda: What do you mean?

Emi: Well, Coda here is actually Koragg. I took him in and we formed a truce. He has actually been very well behaved.

Emeralda: I see.

We then went back to my brothers apartment mostly to show them where he lives. We then went inside along with Chiho and started to talk but I was mostly spacing out.

Coda: Big brother never did specify who saved us but I wonder who it could have been.
