The annoying sound of a phone ringing disturbed Arbaaz's deep slumber. He groaned, nestling his face more into his wife's hair to zone out the sound but to no avail. Whining, he blindly reached for his phone on the nightstand and without looking, attended the call.

“Hello...” - he croaked out.

“Abhi! Where are you since last evening ?!” - came his grandmother's anxious voice.

Last evening ?!

His eyes shot open and he looked at the clock to check the time.

7:35 AM.

WHAT ?!?! He didn't even realize that he had spend the whole night at Zunera's apartment.

‘Hnh.’ - his brain snorted. ‘You were a little... occupied.’

His face flushed red but a smile came over his face as he turned to look at Zunera, curled up in a ball and tangled in sheets. Peacefully sleeping.

“ABHI!”

He snapped back to the call at his grandmother's shout and stormed his brain for possible excuses.

“I'm so sorry Dadi Jaan. I forgot to inform you. Actually my friend insisted to stay the night as he was unwell so I couldn't refuse.” - he lied biting his lip.

“At least inform beforehand next time! I got worried when the gatekeeper told me you haven't returned.” - his grandmother said and his heart melted.

“I promise. Next time, you'll be the first one to get to know about my plans!” - he said cheerfully making her chuckle.

“Okay. Now come soon. We'll have breakfast together.” - she said.

“I'll be there in half an hour.” - he said with a smile before the call disconnected.

He just had put the phone back on the nightstand when Zunera stirred in sleep. Slowly gaining consciousness. Her caramel eyes opened and his heart thudded. She was so beautiful even in her ‘just woke up’ look. Messy hair, sleepy eyes, an angelic face.

Her cheeks heated up at his gaze and she pulled the sheet over her head to hide her blushing self. He grinned at her cuteness and pulled the sheet down to look at her.

“Good morning...” - he rasped out. His voice croaky in the morning which only caused her cheeks to redden further.

She still didn't meet his eyes and his heart tugged at her shyness. Mischievousness strucking him, he placed his arms around her sheet clad body and rolled on his back. Pulling her on top of him.

She finally met his gaze. Eyes wide in surprise, mouth slightly parted in a gasp that was too tempting to resist. One arm around her waist, he brought his other hand up to gather her hair in a fist before kissing her. Unlike last evening, his hold was gentle. Soft. And so was the kiss. Their tongues languidly stroking. Savouring the moment. The love they have for each other. Soft yet firm and steady. Unwavering.

They slowly broke apart, their noses brushing, while they stared at each other.

“You complete me.” - he whispered, his fingers lazily moving on her scalp.

She smiled with moist eyes and placed a soft kiss on the tip of his nose.

“And you are the best thing that has ever happened to me.” - she breathed out, a tear drop falling on his cheek.

“Zooniii...” he whispered, unable to stand her tears, and hugged her to himself. Securing both arms around her and kissed her head.

She got cozy on him. Her head perfectly tucking under his chin and held him tightly. The soothing sound of his heartbeat under her ear providing inexplicable comfort to her soul.
