Zunera unlocked her apartment and stepped inside. She switched on the lights but the sight that met her stilled her on her spot.
Kashish was calmly seated on the couch. Some men, who had guns in their hands, were standing behind her. Her instincts told her to flee but just as she took a step back, she heard the door shutting behind.
She turned around and came face to face with a guy who looked around 27. His features were familiar, making her feel like she had seen him before but she couldn't remember where.
“Hello cousin.” - he greeted with a smile that creeped her out.
Cousin ?
He seemed to sense her confusion and tched.
“What a shame! You don't recognize your only paternal cousin.” - he shook his head while her eyes widened.
Paternal cousin... It meant he was... her uncle's son!
That's why he looked familiar. Because his features matched her uncle Qadir's.
“Ah. Glad you still remember your dear uncle. I thought, after sending him to jail, you would have forgotten about him.” - he said with a smile.
Zunera got aware of the fact that she was surrounded by enemies. Kashish, who wanted Arbaaz. Her cousin, who most certainly wanted revenge. And those goons who were payed to do anything to her at just one command of either of them.
And she had no way out.
“I tried to warn you Zunera.” - Kashish addressed her, catching her attention. “Asked you time and again to leave Abhi alone but you didn't listen.” - she shook her head exasperatedly.
“Why would she ? She has Arbaaz Sulaimaan as her knight in the shining armour.” - her cousin mocked. “She now thinks she can do anything and get away with it!” - his tone turned cold.
“I didn't do anything wrong. It was all your father.” - she said, not intimidated by him. “He-”
“He made a huge mistake by not finishing you along with your parents!”
Time seemed to stop for her. A deafening noise echoed in her ears.
“W-what ?” - she choked out. Her body going numb.
“He didn't kill you because my dear uncle and your father, Anwar, had named this apartment after YOU! And what did he get in return ? JAIL!” - he shouted. “It would have been better if he had kept you in that car which accidentally fell off a cliff in Mumbai.”
She felt like someone was manually piercing her heart with shards of glasses. Her parents had been murdered ? Her uncle had killed his own brother ? Just for an apartment ?
“And see his mistake's outcome!” - he said pointing towards her standing form. “YOU, just like your father, are a pain in the arse-”
The loud sound of a sharp slap rang in the apartment. Her handprints were apparent on his cheek and his whole head had turned right due to the force.
“NOT. A. WORD. AGAINST. MY. FATHER.” - her tone was chillingly calm. And in that moment, she looked Arbaaz Sulaimaan's wife from every angle.
A maddening anger dawned in his eyes and he clutched her hair in a fist. Tilting her head back painfully.
“You slapped ME ? Jabir Qadir Hayat ? YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS!” - he shouted at her face while she struggled against his hold.
He started to drag her towards the room and her heart dropped to her stomach at the insinuation. No! She won't let him harm her in ANY WAY. She would end her life but won't let him harm her dignity!
