Chapter 13

(Zoey's POV)

I open my eyes to a flash. I look up and see Tori and Hunter taking pictures of Zach and I. I look at Zach and see his arm is around my waist. My arms are on his chest while my head was on his shoulder.

"Stopp." I groan. I move out of Zach's grip, which wakes him up.

"Mm?" Zach mumbles. He notices his arm is still around me and moves it quickly.

"You guys are so cute!" Tori squeals.

"Tori, your mother is dating my dad. Zach is your brother. No way." I mumble and stand up while blushing. I stretch out my legs.

"But your dad is out!" Tori exclaims. That causes me to glare at her. I walk into the kitchen and get a cup out. I pour myself some coffee. I hop onto the counter.

"What're we doing today?" Hunter asks, coming in.

"Me and Tori have to be at Hailey's house by 2:00." I say. I look at the time and it's 9:30. Tori lifts herself up on the counter and sits next to me.

I take a sip of my coffee. Daniella comes down, looking like a zombie.

"Morning kids." Daniella says.

"Hey mom, are you okay?" Tori asks, concerned.

"Mm..I don't know." Daniella mumbles. Zach gets up and goes to a drawer. He looks through it and grabs the thermometer.

"Open up." Zach says. Daniella does and Zach puts the thermometer in. It beeps.

"99.9, It's not that bad, just a cold." Zach states. I take another sip of my coffee.

"Thanks for letting me stay here, Daniella." I thank her again.

"Stop thanking me, it's just like old times." She says. Old times. No, it's not. Old times it would've been Kyle and Daniella. My mom and my dad. Tori not going to jail, like nothing would've happened.

Of course I don't say that, it would be rude.

"Yeah." I say instead.

"I got an idea! Why don't we go get some breakfast?" Hunter suggests.

"You guys go do that, I'm going back to bed." Daniella says and walks upstairs. I soon here her door shut.

"Sure, why not?" I say and stand up. I go upstairs into Tori's room. I look through the suitcase I packed. I put on black skinny jeans, a long sleeved white t-shirt and black converses. It's simple. I then straighten my hair out and put eyeliner on. I walk out of Tori's room.

We're at Waffle House right now. I got waffles...of course. We're talking about random things when the door opens. I look up and see Ashton, Emily, and Taylor.

"Crap." I mumble. Tori hears me and looks up too. I hear her sigh. I don't see why Taylor hangs out with Emily. I understand why she does why Ashton, I mean, they are a couple. But Taylor is a nice girl. She's not one of those stuck up bitchy girls like you see in movies.

Taylor notices us and sends us an apology smile. I sigh and look back down. Hunter notices Tori and I's behavior and looks up. He notices and bows his head. Zach doesn't notice because he's to busy eating.

Ashton notices us and nudges Emily. Emily looks at him. Ashton points to us and Emily turns around. Emily smirks and walks up to us.

"Hey freak squad." Emily says. Zach's head shoots up.

"Oh, hey the freak's brother!" Ashton says. Zach hands clenches and his knuckles turn white.

"Please leave us alone so we can eat." I say as nicely as possible.

"Where's the other one, Hanna? Hailey? Yeah, Hailey. Where is she?" Emily asks.

"None of your concern where she is, so please leave us alone." Hunter says. Hunter, Zach, Tori, and I are the only one who knows about Hailey and Tyler's date.

"No can do. Why don't you guys leave instead?" Ashton suggests. I look at Taylor and she sighs. She shakes her head in disappointment at Ashton. Tori heads lower in shame.

"Tori, don't listen to them, okay? All that matters are us, your friends. Not some douche bag assholes." I say and put my arm around her and hug her.

"Aww, look at that! The loser giving the freak a hug." Emily comments.

"I know, aren't they adorable! God, you should just go kill your selves." Ashton says. Zach stands up quickly.

"Leave us alone." Zach says, clearly angry.

"Oh look, big brother came to save them!" Ashton says, pushing it. Zach pushes Ashton into a wall.

"Leave. Us. Alone." Zach warns. The manager then comes rushing in.

"Put him down! And all of you, out!" The manager says. I sigh and we all leave. Taylor comes up to Tori and I.

"I'm sorry about all of this." Taylor says and gives us a small smile. I fake a smile and nod. Taylor then walks off. I look at my watch, 10:56.

It's now 2:00 and Tori and I are at Hailey's house. Hailey, of course, is panicking.

"Calm down, Hailey. Where is he even taking you?" I ask.

"A fancy dinner restaurant." She answers. I nod and then look through her closest.

It's now 7:00 and Hailey looks stunning. I picked out a black dress for her. Tori did her make up. I straightened her hair out.

The doorbell rings, which causes me to jump.

"You got this, Hailey, just be yourself. If he doesn't like you for who you are then leave him!" Tori reassures her. I chuckle and roll my eyes. We send Hailey outside and watch them pull off.

"You have great advice. Leave!' You're amazing." I say sarcastically.

"I try." Tori flips her hair.

"You and Hunter, aye?" I say.

"I really like him, Zoe. I just don't know if he likes me back." She says and sighs.

"Well, I once heard, If he doesn't like you for who you are, then leave him!" I mimic Tori, trying to lighten the mood.

"I'm serious, Zoe." Tori says.

"Okay. Listen. I'm pretty sure he likes you back. You guys seem to click. I always see him happier around you. Like when he sees you, his face brightens up. Maybe he's just nervous to ask you out." I say.

"Yeah...Maybe, but you and Zach though.." Tori hums. I blush.

"I don't know, Tori. I've known him most of my life. He's your brother. And if we did go out and break up, it'd be awkward, because you're my best friend. And then your mother is dating my father.." I trail off.

"You never know, Zoe. The heart wants what it wants." She says. I sigh and nod.
