The rest of your day is spent on apartment hunting, and you are shown two that will work for you pretty well. One is larger but about 20 minutes away from the KQ building by bus, and the other is a bit smaller but within a 10 minute walk. You decide to check out both areas just to see what is around there for the perks of living in each.
The apartment further away had two full bedrooms, and the one closer had only one, but also a small study. They were both definitely enough space for just you. Especially since you will only really be there to sleep most days. By the apartment further away, there was a store close by and a few places to eat. The walk to the bus stop wouldn’t be too bad, and Jay said that it was safe for you to go to and from that area by yourself.
You go to the area for the second apartment, and there seemed to be everything you could need. There was a convenience store that was open all night, plenty of restaurants, and an adorable coffee shop on the corner. You decided to stop and grab coffee at the cute shop before heading back to your hotel to think about which one would be best for you and get a workout in.
As you walk in, it seems a little crowded, but mostly just people pointing and smiling while looking at the coffee shop - not really going in. You walked through the crowd to go in and get in line when you saw the cause for the commotion. There seemed to be an idol group in front at the counter. At least you assumed so since everyone was watching them, and they were covered almost head to toe, including masks.
They step aside after ordering their coffee, and you step up to make your order. The girl behind the counter tells you it will be just a moment and asks you to have a seat since you’re going to be drinking it there. She will bring it right out to you. You thank her and head to a table in the corner. You bow slightly to say thank you when the group of men part for you to walk through them to get to your table. One in particular seems to follow you with his eyes once you’re through them. He quickly looks away when one of the other members asks him a question.
“Hyung, where were you last night? You never did tell us.” Says the red-haired boy.
“Yeah, Hyung!” One of the other members starts to tease. The man seems flustered but just rolls his eyes and tells the other two to mind their business.
You don’t hear the rest of their conversation as you get to the table you were heading to, but you can tell that they continued to tease the member.
As you’re waiting for your coffee to come, you notice that the same member looks over to you a few more times. Weird. It’s not like you put extra time and effort into your looks today, but it’s definitely a confidence booster. You are trying to avoid looking at him back when you notice that there are now two members looking at you. The second is just looking back and forth between you and the taller member, though. They get their drinks and leave as the barista is bringing yours to you.
She notices that you’re watching the group leave and smiles. “Aren’t they handsome? They come in all the time, and it always draws a crowd.” You almost miss that she’s even talking to you from being so distracted.
“Oh - yeah, I’m sure they definitely draw a lot of attention. Who are they? I’m guessing a KQ group since we are so close to there?”
“Yeah! They are ATEEZ! They are so amazing. Have you heard of them?”
“Ah! Yeah - I have listened to their music, I just haven’t looked them up to see what they look like! I’m a bit new to K-POP.” You respond a little shy.
“I mean, you knew they would be from KQ, so you can’t be THAT new to it.” She eyed me suspicious but still smiling.
“Ah. Yeah. I will start there next week.” You tell her a little quietly. “I have only been there once, though, and only saw the group I’ll be working with.” Her eyes light up as you speak, and you hope she doesn’t freak out loudly.
“That’s so cool. Yeah, we get a lot of staff and people in here because of where we are located. It’s not why I got a job here, but it’s definitely a perk! Congratulations on the new job, though. I’m sure we will be seeing a lot of you here, too, then!” She smiles and winks at you and walks back behind the counter.
You sit there and think to yourself. Hmm. ATEEZ. You really should learn the groups and artists that are at this company. It definitely will help you not come across as rude from not knowing them when they’re right in front of your face.
