I sing along to the backing track, trying my best to avoid the judgmental stares of the public. Titan, I hate this.

Ever since I told my mum I was pursuing singing, she's been cold and distant. she wants me to be her perfect child, she gave up With Edric and Emira, but is still set on me being her one. Her golden child. She swats me to become a damn lawyer or a doctor or something. And I know I sound so chliche when I say this but I want to be a singer. I don't want to sit at a desk or do a boring monotonous job that has no room for me to do me.

Cutting off my money was just the first part of her plan to still try to hold me into her perfect child. She's now uninvited me to all the family meetings and is no longer showing me on any of her campaign adverts. And when asked she just says "I only show my children. And if one of them decides they are no longer wanting to be apart of my family, I shall treat them as such."

So much for your love and support, Mother.

I finish the song and begin to pack up. It's hopeless really. These bars give me the smallest amount of publicity and no money. How am I supposed to live off this? Ed's job can only support me for so long, and even though I'm their little sister I still feel bad. I can't rely on him for much longer, or I'll get both of us broke.

"Hey, well done Mitten!" Em says, ruffling my hair. I hate it when she does that, but I say nothing. She holding hands with some girl I've seen before. They went to school together, I think her names Viney.

"yeah, you sounded really good Amity" Viney says, and smiles at me. I guess I can see this working.

I walk home, head down so I don't make any eye contact with anyone in the city. They all seem to know my face, and I'm approached more times in one walk than I can count.

Suddenly, I walk into a girl, stood by a lamp post.

She has curly dark hair, which falls slightly over her eyes, covered by a red beanie with an eye and a bi pin on. She's wearing a purple and white hoodie, that has cat ears on the hood, under a brown varsity jacket with a big E stitched on it. In one hand she's holding a poster in one hand, sticking it onto a pole with some blue tack. In the other she holds a small dog, who's sat at her heels. He has a big red collar, with a small crown attached.

"Sorry! I didn't mean to be in your way!" She says, blushing slightly with embarrassment.

"No, my fault. I should have been looking where I'm walking. My apologies." I say, and take a look at the poster she was haphazardly sticking up. It's a band poster, asking for any interested in auditioning.

"Oh, cool! You have a band?" I ask, taking one of the small slips from below it.

"Yeah. Well, not really yet. I play electric guitar and wanted to form a band, and was hoping people would audition to join. Are you interested?" She asks, her face lighting up at the thought of someone wanting to audition.

"Yeah, I'll come along." I say, laughing slightly as she looks more pleased than I've ever seen someone look.

"Okay!! Well show up tomorrow and you can audition! I'll see you there." She says, almost sings with happiness, and leaves, the dog following her behind and she practically skips away.
