"Heyyy..." Patrick managed, hoping not to be too rude to the one person (out of everyone in this hell hole he was forced to inhabit for seven hours a day five days a week) who seemed to want to talk to him.
"How's your morning been?" The upebeat red head said, beaming from ear to ear for what was probably no reason at all, tiny teeth all displayed to the world.
"Well," Patrick thought, "I just accidentally said hi to who is only the cutest, most out of my league, boy I've ever met. He's probably straight- on second thought, with my luck- he's sure as hell straight. PLUS, he was talking to joe and they both gave me a weird look so I've already set myself up to be the punch line of someone's joke today and it's lot even eight o'clock yet. And not to mention the fact that the only kid who will talk to me is the boy who looks more like an eight year old lesbian than a sixteen year old boy." Patrick couldn't help but look at the way the dim, school lights made Gerard's hair look almost pink and the way his jean jacket sat on his small frame. "AND, I barely exist- if at all- on this strange little planet, so yeah..."
"It's been pretty good," Patrick answered aloud, silently hating everyone and everything around him. But maybe hate was too strong of a word because he didn't despise the existence of the establishment as much as he just felt uncomfortable being there with all these groups of friends milling around him and judging him.
"But who am I kidding? It's not like they're paying any attention to me. I'm just another loser with nothing to offer them... Except maybe some some amusement. That's probably the only reason I exist: to amuse the more fortunate. If I do exist, that is. I'm probably just a figment of their imaginations, created with the sole purpose of being the human embodiment of humiliation."
Patrick always had pleasant thoughts when in that building- or anywhere for that matter."It's a great day isn't it?" Gerard said, loudly, practically singing it and earning them a few skeptical glances from passerby as Patrick prayed Gerard would go away and let him go to first period class with little to no trouble.
"Yeah, the best," Patrick lied, grabbing his Algebra II book out of his locker and trying to escape. But to no avail, for Gerard clang to his side as he walked toward the classroom.
"So you'll never believe what just happened to me," Gerard said giddily.
"You're probably right. I've gotta go to al-" Patrick rushed out, trying to make a quick dash into the algebra II classroom before Gerard cut in, cornering the boy with his back against the lockers, only two feet away from being inside the sanctuary that was the horrid math classroom.
"So Frank- you know that cute little punk kid in my study hall?" Gerard started, waving his hands around dramatically as he spoke.
"Well," he continued, not bothering to let Patrick lie and say that he knew just who Gerard was raving about. "He just stopped me- you know the water fountains down by Gym B? I was walking past there and he was just finishing getting a drink he backed up into the middle of the hallway and I ran right smack into him! And believe me, I was mortified, but that didn't last long because then he was all 'oh hey sorry. Gerard is it?' And I was all 'the one and only' and he was like 'oh hey I'm frank' and I was all 'I know' and I explained that I recognized him from my study hall and he was all 'oh yeah! You're the kid who-' did I tell you about the time I showed up late for class and told- well implied- to the study hall monitor that I was late because I was fucking her husband?"
Patrick sighed, looking at the nearest digital clock glowing ominously from it's hanging position on the hallway ceiling. "No," he answered, realizing he'd made a terrible mistake as Gerard began to tell a far too detailed version of what he'd just said.
