Mid-afternoon, as I was thinking about asking whether I could buy orc meat from the subjugation, the news spread through the streets. The subjugation was a success, they managed to annihilate the entire colony and were now in the process of cleaning up and transporting the injured, dead, and orc corpses. Thinking that I needed to hurry so that I could place an order for orc meat, I moved quickly toward the guild.
Walking into the guild, the first person I saw was the Guildmaster, Alisha. I was not expecting her to be in the lobby and considered turning around and giving up on the orc meat. It was rather likely that she would arrange for the orc meat to be set aside for me, but I had this gut feeling that she would want some kind of favor in return. While I was considering my options, she spotted me and started moving toward me with an awkward smile.
"What do we have here, hmm? What could possibly bring you to the guild when we are so busy dealing with logistics for the subjugation aftermath? If you're looking for information on the adventurer party you were here with yesterday, then we don't have it. If you're here to waste time, we don't have the time to spare unless you happen to know someone who has an elixir for sale. If you do, then I wouldn't mind sparing a few minutes for you." With her hand on her hip, she gave me a look that screamed, 'Well, do you?!'
"Well, I don't know if there is someone who has an elixir they'd be willing to part with, but as it just so happens, I may be able to prepare one for you, assuming you can find me two things, and set aside a few orcs worth of meat for me. I would need the meat by tomorrow morning." I replied making sure to state my original purpose.
Alisha just blinked and stared at me dumbfounded for a moment before snapping back to reality. "Can you really? I didn't think you would actually be able to get one. What are these two things you mentioned you would need?"
"A Moonlight Lily and dragon scale powder. If you can get me those two things, I can have your elixir ready within a few minutes," I replied immediately.
"Wait, you intend to make an elixir? Even if I got you those two things, no one has found a Golden Vine Snail in over a decade. You can't fool me that easily." She said to me reproachfully.
"I already have all the other ingredients, all I need is the Moonlight Lily and dragon scale powder, those items, while not too rare, are extremely valuable, so I haven't been able to find any yet," I replied like it was the most obvious thing.
"You seriously have a Golden Vine Snail? Where did you find it?" She asked disbelievingly.
"That's a secret, and you're wasting time. I'm assuming if you're asking for an elixir, someone is in serious need of one. Can you get the ingredients or not?" I said, causing her to get back on track.
"Right, I can get them, give me a few minutes. Someone take this kid to the compounding room, I'll be back shortly." She quickly ran out, ordering one of her subordinates to lead me to the compounding room.
Arriving at the compounding room, it looked desolate. I was told that it had been a while since an alchemist or apothecary had worked at this guild branch, and all adventurers were out for the subjugation or dealing with the tasks that weren't getting done by others because of the large-scale subjugation. I decided to clean up a bit with magic before grabbing a snail from my dimension home. By the time Alisha got back, I had already cleaned up my workspace and prepared all the other ingredients for making an elixir.
"You really did find a Golden Vine Snail, I haven't seen one in a long time." Said Alisha with a bit of awe in her voice.
"Of course I did, I wouldn't have asked for those ingredients if I hadn't. You did bring the ingredients I asked for, right?" I spoke with a bit of pride.
