Taylor's lecture on Vestiges and Essence was pretty much the standard for any lesson on these two essentials to Exorcism.

"Essence, Mana, Chi, Aura. It has many names. It is the inner energy humanity innately contains.

"There aren't very many that have the ability to become attuned with these inner energies and there are fewer that are able to utilize them as a force of nature."

He drew a diagram of the human body on the smart board.

"Our Essence resides in our soul."

He drew a smaller diagram inside of the body he already drew using a different colored marker.

"We as Exorcists typically have a strong connection with the soul. With a strong enough connection, we are able to manipulate our Essence to our advantage, thus utilizing it through physical manifestation."

He took a sip from his can of Ultra NRG.

"Whether it's to give an individual super human strength, perhaps, an unbreakable will. A body of iron. There are many different uses, but like everything in this world, there's a limit.

"That limit though, depends on the individual"

Ayane held her hand out and Taylor's can flew out of his hand into hers.

"When a human gains the ability to externalize their Essence, it creates the phenomenon that has been coined as 'Vestiges'.

A Vestige could take many forms, but let's talk about some of the elemental Vestiges."

He drew arrows that pointed away from the diagram around it and drew different symbols; A flame, a snowflake, blowing wind, rocks, electricity, etc.

"As shown by our beloved Ms. Suzumiya, her Vestige is magnetism."

He took a deep breath, then forcefully pushing his hand towards the class. A blast of wind caused papers to fly up and flutter.

"As you can see. My Vestige is wind."

The class clapped their hands at his demonstration.

"Now. In terms of elemental Vestiges, while there are some that are completely unheard of, there are two in particular that are extremely rare. Would anyone care to inform us what those two are?"

Miyu, the user of the unheard of or unrecorded Vestige of water, raised her hand. "Fire and ice."

Taylor clapped. "Very good, Lady Mitarashi! Fire and ice. The Vestiges of the Great Crimson King and Ice Queen!"

"U-Um, Sir? W-Would you like your drink back?" Ayane held his drink out towards him.

He gladly accepted the can and gulped the rest of it down. "Thank you, Ms. Suzumiya. Now, as I was saying, when we externalize our Essence, it manifests itself as a Vestige.

"These are the different types of—I guess you could say, 'super powers'. The type of Vestige one possesses could be dependent on bloodline, connectivity to nature, or even just through a person's personality."

He paced in front of the class with a carefree smile.

"My Vestige, wind, manifested itself from my personality. I've been told that I'm a very happy-go-lucky, 'go-with-the-flow', and free spirited type person. There is nothing more free in this world than the wind and air that surrounds us."

"So, what does that have to do with elemental Vestiges?" Noel asked.

"Well, wind and air are considered to be a type of elemental, right?" He took a breath while at the same time Noel nodded her head up and down.
