After our little interrogation, Rose and Koyo were catching up with each other.
I gave them a little bit of privacy and sat in the living room staring at the blank night sky.
The moon and stars were blocked out by the clouds that still cried through the night.
When the girls finished wrapping things up, they stood and hugged each other.
They were both teary eyed, while at the same time, glad to have finally been able to return to what was once normal in a distant past.
"You're more than welcome to visit any time you like, okay?" Koyo's voice wavered.
Rose sniffled. "Of course, that is, if Jane ever lets me out of her sight."
The both laughed at the little joke she cracked.
I looked over at the two and an image of the past overlapped the both of them.
I saw a young girl in a pink dress with snowy hair, laughing with another girl with blonde hair, in a white dress.
"Well—Speaking of Jane, doesn't she know already? She should be fine hanging out with us," Koyo added.
Rose pursed her lips. "I decided to keep this our little secret. If she does ask, I'll just tell her, 'nope, not them. It's just a strange coincidence."
I got up and took a deep breath. "Thank you, Rose. I'll walk you out."
"Do you need someone to take you back home?" I gave her a wink and a blush spread on her cheeks.
"I live just down the hall," she senselessly started playing around with her hair. "But sure. I wouldn't mind."
She met my eyes with a timid grin.
Koyo looked at us strangely. "Uhh—You two okay?"
I nodded. "Yeah. I'll be right back, Snowflake."
Rose and I walked down the hall in silence.
I had an arm wrapped around her shoulder, keeping her close to me.
"I'm happy that you both opened up to me," Rose whispered. "I'll be sure to keep this a secret."
We passed Miyu's room and she seemed to glower at it.
"Still. You've got some nerve," I could hear a hint of jealousy in her voice. "I know she's one of my best friends, but I can't believe you told her before you told me."
I gave a guilty laugh and scratched my head. "Well, she got to me first. What do you want me to say?"
She pouted. "Hmph."
We stopped in front of her room: Room 1303.
We faced each other and I held both of her hands.
Her eyes seemed to sparkled as she shot a loving stare, like Cupid's arrow, directly into my own eyes.
"Tomorrow's going to be weird after tonight. Isn't it?" She whispered.
I gave her a gentle kiss on her forehead and replied, "I hope not."
She got up to her tip-toes and pecked my lips.
"Sleep tight," She whispered as she slowly let go of my hands. "I love y—"
She stopped dead in her tracks and her eyes went wide.
I turned around to see what she was staring at.
Holding a bag of groceries in one hand, phone in the other with her mouth agape was Noel.
