Pairing: Carter/Vala
Warning: Injury

"Well, this really isn't that bad," Vala said, stretching out against the wall next to Sam. "Oh really?" the blonde woman said, humouring her sole companion, "And how is that?" Sam was slumped up against the cave wall, her leg contorted and burned in a sickly manner, and her face pale. Vala glanced at her, "Well, the leg is unfortunate, but at least there aren't bad guys coming after us anymore. Also, this cave is surprisingly cosy and well-lit."

Sam smiled. Leave it to Vala to find the good in the situation. Of course, she was probably just happy because she thought Sam hadn't noticed the fact that she'd kept the very gem that'd gotten them into this mess in the first place. "They're hardly bad guys," Sam said with a chuckle, "They were running after us because of what you stole anyways." Vala averted her eyes, "Stole? No, I'd never do something like that." At Sam's dubious look, Vala conceded, "Ok, maybe I was planning to borrow it, that hardly warrants the angry mob."

Sam was about to reply as a jolt of pain ran up her leg again. "Do you think the others made it back to the gate alright?" she asked to distract herself from the pain. "Oh, yes. I'm sure they're having a swell time back on Earth while we're stuck here in this damp, dark cave."

"I thought you said it was cosy and well-lit," Sam teased, a bit of a mischievous glint in her eye. "Well I may have overexaggerated a bit," Vala said, tapping the sole of her boot against the dirt, "Though it's better than a damp, dark cave alone." Sam smiled, the thought of being injured in this cave alone certainly did not appeal to her- or anyone for that matter.

She winced as her leg started to hurt even more, and she attempted to move to a more comfortable position. "Leg bothering you?" Vala asked, and Sam shot her a look. "Yes, the two staff blasts to the leg are only 'bothersome'." Vala winced, "Sorry, sorry. You know, I'm not very good at this whole social interaction thing."

"That's not what it seemed like when you were trying to seduce that shop owner back in the village," Sam teased. "I meant more on the comforting side of things," Vala said, her face a bit red. "That's okay," Sam said, reaching her arm around Vala's shoulders, "I'm just teasing." Vala leaned her head onto Sam's shoulder, careful not to jostle her leg, and sighed, "I'll admit, this sucks. At least it's nice to have you here."

"Glad you appreciate me," Sam smiled, ignoring the pain in her leg and turning her eyes to the cave entrance. They sat there in silence for a moment, and Sam watched the rain coming down. It was pitch black outside, and the falling wall of water just outside the cave entrance reflected off a flashlight they'd turned on to give them some light. An emergency blanket lay over the both of them, and Vala tried not to hog it, in consideration of Sam.

Sam watched the falling water for a moment when she noticed Vala had fallen asleep. She smiled, turning her attention to her. Her hair had been taken out of its ponytails a while ago, and her long black hair hung over her face. Sam brushes a few strands away to properly look at her. She couldn't see much in the low light, but she was beautiful as ever, something Sam may have been noticing more and more as of late.

Sam ran a free hand up and down Vala's back, to which the woman leaned closer. She looked content in sleep, even if their real-life situation was less than desirable. Sam watched Vala for what was likely an hour and a half, when suddenly Vala was awoken by a loud clap of thunder. "Ow!" Sam exclaimed in pain as Vala jumped next to her. "Oh, I'm so sorry," Vala apologised, "Are you alright?"

Sam nodded, and Vala turned her eyes to the cave entrance and eyed the next flash of light suspiciously. She didn't jump the next time thunder came, but Sam could see her clenching her hands. "Relax Vala, it's just a thunderstorm."

"Hey Sam," Vala said, her tone a bit too jovial for the situation, "Did you know I had my first kiss during a thunderstorm?" Sam looked at her in surprise, not quite sure what she was trying to get at, "No, I didn't know that."

"She was pretty too," Vala continued, "Looked a bit like you, if I remember correctly." Sam blushed; was Vala trying to flirt with her? Especially at a time like this? God, this girl was hopeless. "Oh really?" Sam asked, trying- and failing- to keep her tone neutral. She ended up sounding a bit excited. Vala smirked, looking up at her, "I wouldn't mind repeating that experience."

Sam was sure her face was as red as a tomato at this point, and she looked at Vala, not sure what to say. On one hand, this really wasn't the time, but on the other hand, Sam really didn't care. Vala leaned her face closer to Sam's, careful of her leg. "So, what do you say?" Vala said.

Sam couldn't seem to get any words out, so she just nodded, and Vala brought her lips to meet Sam's. Sam leaned into the kiss; she had been wanting something like this for a while. When they finally broke apart, both their faces were flushed, and Vala was smirking, "For all your nervousness, you're quite good at this. Wanna go again?"

This time, Sam didn't hesitate to lean forward and kiss Vala, her hands on the back of Vala's neck and her waist, respectively. They kissed for what seemed like an eternity, yet only a moment, and when they finally stopped again, Vala was rewarded with a happy and- dare she say it- a cute smile from Sam. "How about we make this a thing?" Sam asked, and Vala nodded, going in for another kiss.

By the time the rescue team found them, Sam had all but forgotten the pain in her mangled leg, and the two women's mouths were in awfully close range.
