Things haven't been the same between me and Billie.

I don't know what happened but we were fine until we weren't. One day she stopped answering my calls, her replies to my text became shorter, and we began to talk less.

I don't know what the problem is. It's like every time we're at a good point, we get distant. I wish I knew what it was that keeps us apart.

"Do you think it's me?" I asked Xan. "Of course not. You did nothing wrong." She reassured. We were sitting on my sofa, talking like we always do, and somehow we landed on the topic of Billie.

"But what else could it be?" I said. She shrugged her shoulders, "It's her." She said simply.

"No, this isn't like the last time. Something's wrong." I said.  She sat up, "I can tell you what's wrong," She said, an unpromising look on her face, "She doesn't want you like you want her."

I scoffed and rolled my eyes.

"Just think about it," She started, "Every time y'all stop talking, it's because she stops showing interest. Its like shes comes to points where she picks and chooses when to give you her energy."

"No, Xan, you don't understand." I said. "No, Naomi, you don't understand." She repeated.

She put her hands on my shoulder, forcing me to look in her eyes. "She gosthed you for the second time, Nai." She said.

"If you go back to her she's gonna give you another sorry ass apology, make you fall for her, and then leave your ass again."

"She's not like that." I said, pushing her off of me. She sucked her teeth, "Bullshit."

I sighed and leaned back into the sofa, "We actually have something, okay?" I said. She shrugged, "Don't look like nothing to me."

"In fact, I think you should block her." She said, bluntly. "I'm not blocking her." I mumbled. "I'll do it for you." She offered, reaching for my phone, I quickly snatched it from her.

"Should I even be listening to you?" I said. "Remind me what your love life looks like?"

She started at me blankly, not a single word coming out of her mouth. "That's what I thought." I said. "Aye, I'm only single because I know when something's not good for me, unlike you."

I turned away from her and flicked her off.

"You can be mad all you want, all I'm sayin' is, you're too fine for this." She said. "You could get anybody you want, but you wanna stay stuck up on her."

I turned away from her, "I'm not listening to you, Xan." I mumbled. I took a few seconds to think before getting up and grabbing my purse and keys. "Where are you going?" She asked.

"To check on Billie."

I stood at Billies front door, ringing the doorbell.

Some time went by and I was fixing to ring it again until the door slightly opened, someone peaking through the crack. "Hi." I said, trying to see who's behind the door.
