Chapter 4 - The Hunt P.1

The morning started as any other. True Fusion woke early to eat breakfast and get straight to work. They decided to search in groups. Diren and Terrance would patrol the southern part of the 'satellite' as they had heard the slums being called. Lysander, James and Ryan would patrol the rich section and Xander and Apollo would patrol the north of the satellite. When they were by themselves, Apollo started talking to Xander. "Hey xander." "What's up Apollo?" Apollo looked down slightly with a bad look on his face. "I had a vibe last night." Xander was immediately flushed with a wave of Anxiety and Curiosity. When Apollo had 'Vibes' it was always a sort of warning to a bad event in the future and the sounds and feelings he gets from the Vibe are clues as to what might happen. "Describe the vibe to me, what did you hear and feel?" Asked Xander. "I heard some sort of Psychotic laugh from a girl about our age and I felt that she had some sort of connection to you. Maybe someone you used to know." Xander fell silent. There is very few girls that he even spoke to in his life and most of them are either dead or not strong/dangerous enough to give Apollo a vibe. That left one option: Yuri. This confirmed to Xander that Yuri was here in the synchro dimension and likely knew he was here as well. Apollo looked up at Xander "Who is she?" Xander sighed and looked back at him. "I've never told any of you about her so keep this secret for a while ok?" Apollo nodded. "Ok. I'm near 100% sure that the girl you heard was an old friend, Yuri. I haven't seen her since I left but now I think she's with duel academy." Apollo had a worried look. "Left where?" Xander looked away ".....Duel academy." This fact shocked Apollo. Xander had never told them he used to go to duel academy so it was a revelation. "I know it's shocking Apollo, but you trust me right?" Apollo smiled "Course". They both smiled and continued through the satellite.

Terrance and Diren were walking around. They hadn't seen anyone that looked like Yuya and they had no idea why they were searching for this person while the systems come back online, but hey orders are orders. They were just chilling when all of a sudden they heard a familiar voice that terrified them. "You two on break huh?" It was officer trudge. They both turned around, sweating a lot. That blue-haired receptionist was with him as well. Diren said "o-oh hey sir, yeah we are...". He was not convincing in the slightest but it didn't matter anyway. "We know that you're the ones that shut down the system." Said trudge angrily. They were busted. "Ok fine that was us but why is the receptionist here?" Asked Terrance. Trudge was confused but the receptionist cleared it up. "I'm not the receptionist, my friend is but couldn't come to work so I covered her, I'm Mina. I'm the second in command for all of sector security." Diren and Terrance knew they were probably screwed but they weren't going down without a fight. Diren said "You're not taking us in that easily" and activated his duel disk. Terrance followed suit. "Fine then." Said trudge as he activated his duel disk. "I'll help as well" said Mina as she activated her own duel disk. Trudge smiled "Thanks Mina". He was a simp and Diren and Terrance knew it. Either way they began as usual with everyone saying "Duel!"

"I'll start, draw!" Shouted Mina. "I summon Vylon Hept in Attack mode!"

"I set one card face-down and end my turn". Diren said "I'll go next" and dramatically drew a card. "I play the Galloping Gaia field spell!" Suddenly a rushing red aura surrounded all of them. "It lets me reveal a Gaia monster in my hand and add a level five dragon monster from my deck to my hand! So I reveal Gaia the magical knight and add curse of dragon, the cursed dragon from my deck to my hand!" Mina didn't duel much so she was barely keeping up but everyone else understood. "Now I activate the continuous spell spiral spear strike! This lets my Gaia monsters deal piercing battle damage and when a Gaia monster deals damage I can draw two cards and discard one. Now I'll activate Spiral Fusion!" Trudge's eyes widened in shock "Fusion?!?!" Diren smirked "Yep, this card lets me perform a fusion summon and if that monster is Gaia the dragon champion then it gains 2600 Atk and can attack a second time! So I fuse Gaia the magical knight and Curse of dragon the Cursed dragon! Fusion summon! Gaia the magical knight of dragons!!!!"

"Now I set two cards face-down and end my turn!" Trudge sighed "Finally, my turn. I draw!" He smirked as he saw the card. "I play Final countdown!!! I pay 1000 LP and when 20 turns pass, me and Mina will instantly win the duel!"

This brought shocked expressions to Diren and Terrance and a smile to Mina. "Now I summon assault dog in attack mode!"

"I set two cards face-down and end my turn!" Terrance placed a hand in his deck. "My turn now, I draw! I activate my own field spell, centrifugal field!" Green and black aura mixed into the already active red aura from Diren. "Now I activate the effect of thunder dragon from my hand! By discarding him I get to add two more thunder dragons from my deck to my hand! Now I activate Polymerization to Fuse my two thunder dragons with thunder dragon dark! Fusion summon! THUNDER DRAGON TITAN!!!!!"

"Now I set two cards face-down and end my turn." Now Diren and Terrance were feeling a lot more confident. They weren't letting their gaurds down but they did have the advantage. "My turn." Said Mina "I draw! I summon Vylon cube!"

Now during my end phase Vylon delta lets me add an equip spell from my deck to my hand! I add Vylon material to my hand and end my turn!" "My turn draw!" Shouted Diren. "I summon skilled blue magician in attack mode!"

Diren thought for a moment. 'They've both got plans that they need those monsters for. So I'll use both of my Gaia's attacks to defeat Mina then I'll destroy that assault dog with skilled blue magician and Terrance can finish him off next turn.' "Gaia attack Vylon Delta! Spiral Magic Spear strike!!!" Mina quickly shouted out "I activate my trap card: synchro deflector! This negates your attack and destroys your Gaia!" A large blast destroyed Gaia the magical knight but Diren was prepared. "I activate my trap card: Spiral reborn! This lets me special summon Gaia back to the field and since he counts as Gaia the dragon champion you cannot target or destroy him with card effects anymore!" A spiral formed and Gaia rose again.

"Now Goyo Gaurdian attack Gaia!" Trudge was confident but Diren had a counter. "I activate my trap card: Spiral discharge! This card makes it so you cannot attack cards other than my Gaia the dragon champion, which my Gaia the magical knight counts as, and when an attack is declared involving my Gaia I can destroy one card in the field! In this case Goyo gaurdian!!!!" Trudge yelled out. "No!!!! Goyo gaurdian!!!!" As his monster was destroyed. Trudge was left with no options. "I.... End my turn." Terrance smiled. "Good work Diren, my turn, I draw! Thunder dragon Titan attack trudge directly!!!" Neither trudge nor Mina had any way to protect him so the attack connected. "AAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!". Trudge's scream echoed out as a blast of lightning eliminated him.

"I end my turn." Mina was at a huge disadvantage but she had to keep fighting to avenge her best friend. Trudge could feel himself getting friend zoned. "My turn, I draw! I summon Vylon Tetra!"

Component let's Alpha deal peircing, segment prevents it from being targeted by Trap and monster effects and material gives it a 600 point boost!"

"Now Vylon Alpha attack Gaia the magical knight! Vylon beam!" Terrance shouted out "I activate my trap card: Drowning mirror force! This shuffles your monster back into the deck and that destroys your equip spells! Since mirror forces aren't targeting effects, your Vylon segment can't protect it!" Vylon alpha disappeared, returning to the extra deck. Mina's eyes opened wide. There was nothing she could do. It was over. "I..... end my turn." "Good, I draw!" Yelled Diren "Gaia, skilled blue magician attack!!!!" Both monsters let out destructive attacks and sent Mina Flying. "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH"

"Mina no!!!" Trudge jumped and caught Mina to protect her from hitting the ground. It wouldn't have hurt her that much but he was a simp and needed every chance he could get to make this woman fall for him. Meanwhile Diren and Terrance booked it outta there. After they escaped, The group in the Rich portion opened up a transmission with the rest. "What have you found?" Asked Xander. Ryan responded "We saw some information on the friendship cup the lancers will be in and there's another competitor there called Yugo who looks near identical to Yuya." Xander looked away for a moment. His theory was correct, there was one of them for each dimension. But what did it mean? Why were these 'Yu's in every dimension and what sort of relevance did they have? Terrance finally decided to ask the question on all of their minds "Iblis, why are we looking for these people?" Xander sighed. "I heard that yuya absorbed a guy called yuto who looked like him and used Xyz summoning, now yugo who looks like him and uses synchro summoning, then there's Yuri who looks like him and uses fusion summoning. There's something going on and I just don't know what." "Who's Yuri?" Asked James. Xander just realised that he slipped up and accidentally said Yuri's name. He knew there was no escaping so he explained the full story to them all. By the end of it Lysander just said "oh we knew you were from duel academy." Xander and Apollo looked at them confused. Then Apollo said "wait, so it was just me who didn't know?!?!" They all nodded. "It was actually pretty obvious. He carries a duel academy jacket with him everywhere he just doesn't where it" said Terrance. Apollo felt so dumb. Xander thought for a moment before saying "See if you guys can talk to Yugo, Diren Terrance you two go talk to yuya, see if they know anything." Diren lifted an eyebrow "What'll you be doing?" Xander's face got serious "we're gonna find Yuri." And he cut off the transmission.
