description: jack was the reason the devils lost the game because he couldn't stop the rangers from scoring. he believes everyone is disappointed in him, but you comfort him.
word count: 529you were waiting outside of the arena for your boyfriend jack to come out from the locker rooms.
they had lost to the rangers. the score was 3-3 and the rangers scored making it 4-3. it got reflected off of jack's stick causing it to go in the goal.
when it was time for him to come out and he didn't, you got worried, so you decided to go back to the arena to find him.
you weren't supposed to, but you made your way to the locker room.
when you got there, jesper bratt was exiting the locker room.
"hey, jes."
you were pretty friendly with jesper so you had a little nickname for him.
"hi, y/n." he nodded.
"is jack in there?" you asked.
"yeah. he's taking this loss pretty hard." jesper answered.
you sighed.
"i know we're normally not supposed to let anyone in the locker room besides players and coach, but...go in there. talk to him. i bet you could cheer him up." he said.
"you sure?" you raised your eyebrows.
he nodded. "yeah."
"okay. thanks, jes."
"of course. see you, y/n."
he then went walked away with his gear and you went into the locker room. jack was sitting there with his head bowed, staring at the floor.
"jack?"
he picked his head up for just a moment before bowing it again.
"you're not supposed to be in here." he muttered.
"i'm sorry you lost." you said, ignoring his previous statement.
"y/n, you can't be in here. leave." he said.
you shook your head. "jack, i'm not leaving."
"y/n, just go."
"no."
"go."
"no."
he picked his head up.
"i said go!" he yelled.
you've never heard jack yell before. sure, you've seen him frustrated and upset, but never yelling or raising his voice in any manner.
"i'm not going anywhere." you said as you sat down next to him.
he looked at you and sighed.
you took him in your arms and he buried himself in your chest.
"i'm sorry you lost, baby." you repeated.
"why are you sorry? it's not your fault." he replied. "it's mine."
"don't say that. you missed one shot." you shrugged.
"that one shot could've helped us win and i ruined it. i fucking ruined it." he said. "i disappointed the fans, the team, my family. and you. i disappointed you too."
"you didn't disappoint me, jack. i'm so, so proud of you. so proud. you gave it your all. you always do. i'm proud of you because you go out there every single game and you always try. and you always keep the team together. you're a good player, jack and it was one goal. just one. you could never disappoint me. you always make me proud."
"you're actually proud of me?" he raised his eyebrows.
"always." you replied.
he reached up and planted a kiss on your lips.
"thank you for always being there for me, n/n." he thanked
"always, j." you half-smiled. "now go wash up, you stink."
he chuckled and sat up.
you looked him up and down. you were always proud of jack.
