“Albie! Babe! Albus!”

Albus groaned and rubbed his eyes groggily. He glanced over at his clock and sighed.

“It’s two in the morning, Scorp. What do you want?”

“I have to tell you something.”

Albus’ eyes flickered to the pale face of his boyfriend of five years. He tightened his grip around the boy, who lay tangled under the sheets with him, his head resting on Albus’ chest as he gazed up at him with wide, grey eyes. Scorpius’ eyes were one of Albus’ many favourite things about him. They were a swirl of different shades and changed with every mood. Sometimes they were soft like the grey clouds that rolled overhead before a storm and sometimes they crackled like the thunderstorm itself.

“What, darling?”

“I love you.”

Albus raised an eyebrow but his boyfriend appeared very serious. “You woke me up to tell me that? Scorp, I know. You tell me that everyday.”

Scorpius buried his head in Albus’ chest and yawned before mumbling, “Yeah but I don’t tell you enough. I could say it every second of every day for the rest of my life and it wouldn’t be enough.”

Albus snorted but not unkindly.

“Cheesy git,” he muttered fondly, stroking Scorpius’ back and kissing his forehead lightly.

“You love it,” Scorpius teased, his eyelids starting to droop. Albus poked him and his eyes flew open again with a startled laugh.

“I love you,” came the correction. “Sap is part of the package deal.”

Scorpius lifted his head again and rolled his eyes. “I am sap. If you love me, you love my cheesiness by default.”

Albus huffed, pulling him closer. “I do. Now go back to sleep, dork.”

“Okay. I love you, Albie.”

“I love you too, Scorp.”
