After a long day of rebuilding the Boiling Isles, Raine and Eda always liked to come home to the Owl House and into the routine the two had built over the numerous weeks since the defeat of Belos. First, and most importantly, they would barge in, throwing off their boots as they rolled up their sleeves and traversed the house, tidying up and then teaming up to make dinner for the various number of kids and adults who decided to spend the evening.

After dinner and a game or two, usually "Uno", provided by Camila; Raine and Eda would herd all the residents into open bedrooms and hand out sleeping bags as needed.

Providing there was any hot water left, the two would take a quick shower and change into their pajamas, only then collapsing into the nest to sleep, which is where they lay now.

"Agh, Raine, what are you doing?" Eda had almost fallen asleep when she felt Raine start tugging at her hair.

"Sorry, sorry, I accidentally caught a tangle," They ran their blunt nails over her scalp in apology, "I was gonna braid your hair, is that ok?" They asked.

"Oh," She softened, they hadn't done that since they were kids, "Go right ahead, Rainey." She sat up, back towards her partner so they could have easier access to her wild mane. Raine began to hum something sweet as they worked.

She could feel tears prickle her eyes in response to the gentleness, she needed to say something before she started sobbing.

"What brought this on?" She asked, barely hiding the waver in her voice.

"Oh, nothing," Raine replied, "I just noticed it was getting in your way today, I thought you might like to have it out of your face."

Eda nodded, not trusting her voice not to break as they brushed back another strand into the plait.

She closed her eyes, relishing the domesticity of the moment.

"I also thought the braid might keep it from getting tangled in... this." They said. Eda was about to question what they meant when she felt deft fingers brush her ear, a comforting weight hanging there a moment later.

Her eyes widened as she reached up to brush her fingers over the familiar metal object, "Raine, is that..."

"I know it's fast," they interrupted as she turned to face them, "but I can't think of another witch I would rather spend the rest of my life with." They took a deep breath, softly taking her hand in theirs as they pressed a delicate kiss to her knuckles, "Eda Clawthorne, will you marry me?"

Eda couldn't even reply as she tackled them into the nest, clacking their teeth together as she kissed them, "Silly bard," she said, fat droplets running down her cheeks as she cupped their face in her hand, "Of course, I'll marry you."

She sniffed, sitting back on her heels as they wiped her tears away with a smile; she looked at them with a watery gaze full of contentment, "I love you, Raine."

They gently tapped their forehead against her own, "And I love you, Eda." They wrapped their arms around her as the two lay down, "How about we get some rest, my love?"

Eda nodded into their chest as she cuddled closer, tomorrow would be full of announcements and chaos, but for now, they could just sit and enjoy the quiet.

They had all the time in the world.
