"Eda, are you sure this is a good idea?" Raine asked as the two dismounted their staves. They turned to face her and express their concern but were met with a confident smirk from the taller witch.

"If I had a snail for every time you've asked me that I would've been able to pay my bail," She gently pried Fiddlesticks from Raine's hands and allowed the fox to slip into her hair alongside Owlbert, "But seriously if you don't want to..."

"No, no," They interrupted, "I want to do it, I'm just having some nerves I guess." They silently slipped their hand into hers as the two walked towards the Sign-in Shack.

Eda sighed and squeezed their hand, "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't anxious either," She smiled wide, her gold tooth gleaming with intention, "How could I forget the accident that caused me to get this thing?"

Raine huffed a laugh as they patted her arm, "I'm surprised Gwendolyn didn't kill me, I know the bill must've been atrocious."

Eda poked at the aforementioned gold tooth with her tongue, "Rainestorm, If I hadn't already been high on gorephine and covered in blood, she probably would have killed me, " Both Raine and Eda grimaced as they revisited the memory, "She mentioned it recently, said something like, ' You should have been able to stay on, Edalyn. You had been taking snorseback lessons for years '." Eda said in a high-pitched mimic of her mother's voice.

Raine smiled at that, "I would say she's right, except I recall your trainer was a beast," they commented as the two finally entered the shack, "But, I thought your snorseback outfit was sexy." They smirked at her, only the tips of their ears showing their blush.

Eda cackled, "Oh it was," she agreed.

After a brief wait for the wrangler to show up and explain the safety measures, the burley man finally arrived and showed Eda and Raine the snorses they would be riding for the day. He unhitched the animals from their stations and passed them the reins.

"Alrighty fellas," the man said, his gravelly voice reverberating in his chest, "These'll be the mongrels you'll take out today."

He paused to cough hoarsely; Raine's ears flattened slightly as Eda pulled her lips into a thin line.

Done with his coughing fit, the wrangler continued, "This one here," he gestured to Raine's snorse, a cheery green gelding with a light pink tongue and a stocky, not-quite-short physique, "We call him Dagger."

Raine's face fell, they had hoped that the charming snorse, who had already occupied himself with sticking his face in their hair, would have a more fitting name.

The wrangler was oblivious to Raine's disappointment as he turned to Eda; who's eyes were shining in the hope that her snorse would also have a badass name.

"Alright miss." he started, tightening the mare's girth. The mare in question pinned her ears as her eyes flared, her speckled tail flicking in annoyance, although she made no move to reprimand the wrangler. She was tall and imposing, Eda was already wondering how fast she could convince the devilish-looking horse to gallop.

"Her name's Freckles."

Eda paused, waiting for him to continue, "That's it?" She asked.

"Mhm. Freckles." He patted the snorse on the neck, "She was a rescue, came with that name."

"Awesome," Eda said, flatly. Although her excitement was quick to return despite the momentary letdown.

"I'll leave you to it," the wrangler finished, coughing more as he waved to the two and walked off.

Eda turned to Raine, finding them already mounted and beaming down at her with delight. She returned their smile and positioned herself at the left side of Freckles, but her eyebrows scrunched as she realized that mounting a snorse that was at least 15 hands tall was not on her list of tasks she could do with one arm.

"Uh, Raine? Could you give me a leg up?"

Raine flushed, they should have known she'd need a little help before they mounted Dagger.

"Of course, dear," they responded, dismounting and helping her get on, "Sorry about that..."

Eda rolled her eyes with a smile, leaning down and gently tilting Raine's chin toward her, "No sorry necessary," she chided, kissing them soundly on the lips from her place in the saddle, "Thank you, Rainey."

Overall, it was a quiet day on the snorse trail; Raine especially was grateful for this, as they had not been in the saddle for some time and felt the need to get used to it once more. The two had discussed the map they were given of the property and decided they would find the pond that it illustrated.

Giggling and flirting and trying to keep their snorses from eating every blade of grass they passed by, Raine and Eda kept up a nice jog, excited to break the trail and explore the uncharted territory.

After a short time, and some unsolicited bushwhacking, Raine and Eda found the elusive pond. It wasn't huge, but the water was clean and it had a moderate shoreline that could be used as a beach.

The snorses especially seemed to know where they were and were quite excited about it. Raine and Eda, Eda especially, had a hard time keeping the snorses from ditching them and running into the water.

"Alright, alright, geez," Eda grunted, pulling her left rein to her hip to keep Freckles from bucking her off. Raine was in a similar boat, although Dagger was much less spazzed.

Slowly they let the snorses walk into the water, stopping and having them wait if they started trying to get away from them.

"This is actually really fun," Raine commented, guiding Dagger next to Eda on Freckles, about four feet into the water, "I don't know what I was worried about."

"See?" Eda said, "I told you everything would be fine."

Raine rolled their eyes and started to lean in to kiss her, but was startled when they realized that Dagger was beginning to roll over; they scrambled to try and stay upright but to no avail. They were dumped off with a splash as the snorse relished in the cool water.

Eda laughed, wiping away tears of mirth as Raine resurfaced, glaring at their snorse, who was now busy playing in the water.

Raine was about to comment on Eda's laughter when she suddenly cried out as Freckles followed in Dagger's footsteps and dumped her off as well.

Eda poked her head out of the water, wet hair framing her cheeks, but the smile on her face was enough to turn Raine's frown upside down as the two laughed.

"We totally jinxed it," Raine giggled, "but at least nobody lost a tooth this time."

Eda cackled, "That's what we get for going off-trail." She playfully splashed Raine, who sent a wave back, and the two patted their snorses fondly, supervising as they fooled around in the pond.

"What in the bloody hell happened to you two?" The wrangler asked upon their return. Dripping wet, Raine and Eda just laughed and recounted the tale.
