I'd like to teach people how you actually punch as otherwise you may break your fingers if you do it wrong. I haven't gotten into a fight before so no this isn't from experience but instead you can trust my dad's advice (he's usually right unless he says 'probably fine').

This is exactly what you shouldn't do the force when you hit someone/something with your hand in this position your fingers will be pushed back into the hand and your thumb might be inverted at the joint, basically your thumb is broken

As your fingers push farther into your broken thing they will eventually stop as the thumb is too far back to be crushed more so now your fingers are breaking at the proximal.

(I am aware this looks really stupid sorry)
You would want your hand to look more like this when you punch. You would be punching with the lunate and scaphoid bones putting the pressure on your target.

Don't take this as a basic summary of what I'm going to put on here please.

Danke (thank you)
