I was standing next to Etienne as I watched some men bury the casket under the ground. Many people had come over to the funeral. Apollo and Fawn were also here with their families.
Apparently these two decided to come over for some fun because they were bored and planned some things out for the day. But they were rather surprised when Paris let them in and they saw the condition of the house and heard what happened.
Immediately they rushed to me in tears triggering my own, because crying like that and holding me was just another proof that last night actually happened and not just any nightmare that would usually keep me up. Yesterday's events although traumatizing were still draining.
I couldn't bring myself to tell them what exactly went down. I didn't know how to, considering I was in whirlpool myself. All I had were bits and pieces. Mom mentioned enemies, but they didn't seem any random enemies to me.
Boss wants you to know that if only you made some right choices decades ago... we wouldn't have been sent here to kill you. They sounded and looked like ones she had history with, if this statement of theirs was any indication.
So I just left them with whatever knowledge they got from Paris and told them about the funeral that was going to be held in a while.
As they were leaving, they saw my suitcases and like a light bulb lit, they asked where I would be living now, I then broke the news to them about my father and how I would be flying to New York today itself.
They were just as confused to hear about my him.
Today, was mom's day. It was the day to say good bye to an end. And hello to a new beginning. Although I wasn't very sure I was prepared for the former.
After everyone left and I bid goodbye to Apollo and Fawn, I knelt down by mom's grave. It was filled with flowers and there was a flower ring resting by her tombstone. I never thought I would be burying her or that I would ever have to live a life without her.
All I could think about was how every occasion was going to be different because she won't be there. But I guess it's time to start thinking how every occasion will be different because my dad will be there.
"Amora? Let's go. Your dad has already landed. He is on his way to the agency." Étienne called a few graves away.
"Coming." I yelled and turned towards mom's grave. I leaned down and kissed her tombstone, "I will come see you soon mom. It's never going to be a goodbye."
With that promise, I got up and joined Étienne on his way to the car. Once on the road, I told myself the next time I come visit mom, I would've done some work on her last wish.
I'm going to find happiness. Either with my family or by myself.

"He is here."
Amora turned her head to look at Étienne close the door to the cabin they were seated in as he stepped in. She gulped thinking about how her father feels about finding her after so long. She wondered if he blamed her for being the reason he lost years with his wife. Or if he blamed her mother for taking her away? What if he doesn't want to take her in but had to because she was his blood?
"He looks very happy." Étienne said, as if reading her mind, and he picked her bags. They walked out and towards where her father was now signing the guardianship papers with Julieta.
She saw Paris was talking to man who looked to be in his late forties or early fifties. She assumed he must be her father. He was standing as rigid as one would in training. He was wearing a suit and had some dark circles under his eyes and his clothes looked a little wrinkled. She wondered if it was the news of his wife's death or the sudden travel he had to make to pick her up that caused that.
