I cannot believe I let Toga convince me to do this.
It was springtime, and your college was performing a Christian adaptation of Frank L. Baum's The Wizard of Oz. You were calling it No Place Like Home. You had the role of Glinda, the witch of the North. You'd told Dabi about it ages ago, though he was always pessimistic about whether or not he'd be able to go, being a wanted villain and-all.
It was before the play, and the actors were all getting ready while the audience chose seats and chatted with one another, families and friends alike excited to see the performance.
You peaked through the curtains carefully, searching for your boyfriend. You started to get bummed out when you didn't see him sitting in the audience, despite him saying he probably wouldn't be here. You kept looking, though, and eventually found him leaning against the wall, a large hoodie and a mask on to hide his identifying features. You grin happily to yourself, hiding behind the curtain again and doing a mental dance. It's hard to keep still as you overflow with energy.
"What's got you so excited, hmm?" Mina asks, nudging you with her elbow. Your best friend was playing the part of Scarecrow, her Quirk giving her practice in slipping and sliding around.
"Oh, nothing too much. I just saw my boyfriend at the back," you say. Contrary to your words, you had a grin a mile wide on your face.
"Careful, girl. You'll blind me with that smile of yours!" Mina laughs, shielding her eyes dramatically. "You still haven't introduced me to this boyfriend of yours, you know. As your best friend, I must insist that I meet him so I can declare whether or not he is worthy of you." She nods, crossing her arms.
"I dunno, Mina. He's not very sociable, and I don't think you'd like him. He's great for me, but not necessarily for you..." You try to evade Mina's questions, then use a distraction to finish the task. "Oh, it's almost time! The lights'll go down any second, then you'll have to take your place on stage!"
"Ah, crow! You're right!" Mina rushes away to make last-minute preparations and check she has everything in order.
That was a close one. You sigh to yourself, wiping imaginary sweat from your brow.
The lights dim, and Mina hurries past you onstage, taking her place in the back corner of stage right.
Dabi's P.O.V.
It must be starting now. I think, noticing the lights turning off.
I watch the stage as the actors come on scene. They played their parts well, but I was starting to get bored, not seeing [name] on stage yet. It's to be expected, though, since the Glinda character doesn't come on until Dorothy leaves Kansas.
The next scene starts, and I'm in awe as I see my girlfriend twirl on in a pale blue dress.
She's gorgeous... I think, my blood rushing to my cheeks.
I look around, and realize I'm not the only male in the room who noticed this. I grow strangely possessive, and wish that I were the only one who could see her like this. I don't want them to stare at her. I want her all to myself. I want to create a distraction so they stop staring at her...
But I can't. I don't want to ruin [name]'s moment in the spotlight. I want everyone to see how amazing she is, but I don't want everyone to see how gorgeous she looks in that dress. She doesn't belong to them. She belongs to me. I don't....
I close my eyes, listening to her sweet voice as she delivers her lines with grace. She's not mine, but I want her to be. I want to have a claim on her. One stronger than just boyfriend. But are either of us even ready for that? I want to be better for [name] before I ask her to marry me. I don't want her to have to hide me anymore. I want to face the punishment for my crimes so I can be a free man for [name], but I so desperately don't want to be away from her. I want to stay by her side forever.
I smile as I hear her sing.
Her voice is like an angel.

2nd Person P.O.V.
You take a bow with Uraraka, the 'Wicked Witch,' and after Dorothy and Toto take a bow, you gesture toward the tech and light crew, grinning as the audience claps for everyone. You'd been so worried the play would be a bust, but everything went smoothly. Everyone had remembered at least most of their lines, the technology had held up properly, and there wasn't very much whispering backstage. It was wonderful.
You walk off the stage with your peers, your eyes locked on your boyfriend, still in the back.
You grin as he nods up at you, waiting for you to come over to him. You hold up one finger and gesture to your mic, letting him know you had to get un-mic'd first, but you'd meet him as soon as you were done.
He nods, and you hurry to the tech crew, waiting patiently as you're released from your mic. As soon as the mic is untangled from your costume, you run over to him, a wide smile on your face.
You jump on him, and he catches you by your hips, swinging you around a couple times before setting you on the floor and hugging you tightly, burying his face in your shoulder.
"You look beautiful," he says gruffly, his voice muffled. "Too beautiful. Lots of men were staring at you. I didn't like it," he confesses, his grip around you tightening.
"Aww, you silly. Were you afraid I'd leave you?" You pull his mask down gently and stroke his cheek with the palm of your hand. "Never. You mean the world to me, baby. I dare say you're the best thing that's happened to me since I came to God."
"You're too sweet for me," Dabi mumbles. "I don't deserve you. I don't even know how you can stand being in the same room with me." He sighs. "But... I'm glad you do. Stay with me, please..."
"Always. I'll stay with you." You hold out your hand, your pinky finger raised. "I pinky promise."
Dabi chuckles, rolling his eyes. "What, are we in primary school? No one makes pinky promises these days." Nevertheless, he hooks his pinky with yours, and you shake on it. You smile, and he looks away, burying his face back into the top of your shoulder. "I love you," he murmurs, his arms around you.
"I love you, too. So, so much." You smile, pecking his cheek lightly. "I gotta get changed out of my costume, now. Will you wait for me here?"
"Just... a little longer. Please?" He asks quietly, his eyes closed. "I'm not ready to let you go change just yet. So just a little longer?"
You smile, bringing your hand up to the back of his head and stroking his hair gently. "Just a little longer."
Yes, I used my school's future performance of this play as reference. Muahahahaha!
Side note: While exhausting, the plays went really well, and no one obviously forgot lines. Doing it was a lot of fun, and I have heard that we brought some people to Christ through it, which makes me really happy. Love you all! <3
