Willow - Taylor Swift
The more that you say, The less I know
Wherever you stray, I follow
I'm begging for you to take my hand
Wreck my plans, That's my man
You know that my train could take you home
Anywhere else is hollow
I'm begging for you to take my hand
Wreck my plans, That's my man.Amara had been walking for over two hours. She didn't know where she was going, but she loved the feeling of being outside, surrounded by nature. The sun had set and she could now see the lights of New York lighting up the city skyline.
She didn't even notice that she had made it all the way to Queens until she spotted Mr Delmar's deli down the road.
A single word entered her mind, Peter.
She had forgotten all about her kiss with Peter. Only it wasn't Peter, it was Spiderman. It had been pushed out of her mind after everything that had happened that weekend. She hadn't even had a chance to fully think about why she did it or what she should do, now that she had.
All she knew was that whatever she was doing was reckless and dangerous. Not to mention downright cruel, she was playing with his feelings. But what if I actually like him? Am I still playing with his feelings if I feel the same way?
Okay, Amara. You have to decide once and for all. Are you into Peter Parker? Do you like him? Is pursuing that relationship worth... everything that follows?
She stopped walking and turned to face the building that she had just passed. Their roof. She remembered all of the moments they had shared up there. Then she walked in the direction of the park that they had visited, three days ago. So much has happened since then.
She walked along the same hidden path, through the same trees and plants before she saw it. The tree. The tree where Peter had gone up to get her a blossom, that was still in her jacket pocket, and where they had shared their first kiss.
Amara found herself smiling at the memory of Peter's lips on hers.
Then she realised. Why she felt this connection to Peter. Why she couldn't stay away from Spiderman. Why she felt like she could tell him anything. Why her heart seemed to skip a beat when she saw Peter. Why her breath always hitched in her throat when Spiderman would swing her to a new roof. Why her insides went all warm and fuzzy when she saw those dimples on Peter's cheeks.
She liked him.
She liked Spiderman.
But most of all, she liked Peter Parker.
She liked how awkward he was. She liked how he never pretended to be someone else. She liked how he always clears his throat when he feels uncomfortable. She liked how his eyebrows would go up ever so slightly when you compliment him. She liked how she felt she could drown in his eyes and how the sparkle he gets in them when he talks about something he loves would bring her back to shore. She liked his kindness. She liked everything about him.
Screw the consequences: her mission, Aura, her life. When the mission is over, she'd have to leave Midtown. And Peter. She knew she would. She couldn't let that happen. She couldn't let Peter walk out of her life after everything was over. She wouldn't let it happen. She knew what she wanted, and Amara has always fought for what she wanted.
Suddenly her feet began moving before she could register where they were headed.
She just ran.
Past the tree. Past the restaurant roof. Past Mr Delmar's until she got to where she needed to be. She stood in front of the entrance of the building, out of breath and using her powers to open the locked door.
