Don't Blame Me - Taylor Swift

Don't blame me, love made me crazy
If it doesn't you ain't doing it right.
Lord save me, my drug is my baby
I'll be usin' for the rest of my life.

Amara Stark was stupid. So stupid. Not only had she developed feelings for a person who was her mission, but she also acted on them and then he told her the very thing that she had needed him to keep thinking she was oblivious to.

The worst part was, that after all of that, instead of feeling guilty for ruining her mission or annoyed at becoming sidetracked, she still felt giddy from their kiss, mere moments ago.

She looked up, asking the gods for strength... and maybe some common sense, letting out a long, frustrated exhale. But for now, she was just going to go with it, she was going to give herself a chance to be happy... and maybe, ask her father for permission to finally reveal the truth to Peter?

Amara went back inside to Peter's apartment and made up an excuse to tell May about why Peter hadn't come with her.

"Uh, just when you left, Ned called. He had an emergency, I don't know the details, but he needed Peter's help. So he's gone to help him."

She nodded, thoughtfully, but didn't question anything. May looked at Amara differently, it made her nervous as she kept shifting her weight from one leg to another. May was smiling, teasingly when she said, "Your driver's waiting downstairs for you."

"Okay, thank you, May, for having me,"

Amara was just about to turn around, when May called out, "You might want to clean yourself up. Your lipgloss is pretty smudged. And your cheeks are really flushed."

Now was Amara's turn to become bright red, "Sorry, that's really embarrassing," she said quietly.

"No, don't be sorry. Here," she handed her a wet washcloth, "We've all been teenagers before. And we've all had overprotective dads who we would not want to... advertise this to," she smiled, warmly.

"Thanks," Amara said, wiping her face, still bright red.

"Do you want me to walk you down, hun?"

"No, don't worry, I'll be fine."

"Alright. Well, then message Peter to let him know you got home safe, okay?"

"I will, thanks again for dinner, May."

"No problem you're welcome anytime," she approached Amara awkwardly and then wrapped her arms around her in a hug.

Amara hugged back, slightly shocked and caught off guard by the interaction, but nonetheless happy to receive it.

She said her final goodbye and walked back down to the street and was welcomed into the car by Happy Hogan.

But instead of saying, 'Hey, how are you? Nice to see you after a few days' Happy said, "What were you doing at this kid's house for so long, huh?"

"What?"

"You know what. Are you two dating?" Happy said.

"What? No, Uncle Happy!" Amara said.

Her uncle Happy was always quite protective over her, but she had learned to live with it by now.

"You sure?"

"Positive, Uncle Happy. Chill."

"Okay," then he started driving.

"Speaking of love lives, how's yours going?" Amara asked. "Find that new date, yet?"
