I couldn't believe Paige had done that. Paige was the most humble out of all of us. Now she'd tried to kill Maddie on prom night? Ridiculous. I wonder what Maddie had that made Paige want it so bad that she tried to kill her.
I was walking back to my house, and shivers went up my spine as I passed the Ziegler house. Mackenzie Ziegler looked out her window and glared at me. Then, she flicked off the light and angrily shut her curtains. I flinched. Did she really think I had something I do with Maddie's accident? I was friends with her goddamn it. Well was friends with her. But I wouldn't do something that extreme, and Mackenzie knows that. The door opened and I realized I had been standing in the same spot. I started to walk quickly as Mackenzie walked out.
"It's not about you, you know. I know you wouldn't do something like that. But believe it or not, I think it had something to do with Mikey. He was the first one To step out of the way."
"Mikey wouldn't do that."
"That's what you thought about paige, but you were wrong." She walked past me into the dark blustery night.
I thought about her words for a minute. After all, she was right.
