"I CAN'T DO THIS," Elara said, massaging her temples

"I CAN'T DO THIS," Elara said, massaging her temples. "He's insufferable, Dee. A disorganized idiot, that's what he is."

Deena stared at her blankly. It had been hours since Elara began complaining about Poe Dameron while frustratingly sewing part of her suit back together. The seam on the right thigh had ripped while she ran the training course a few days prior, which was not important to her memory, so she was stuck repairing it six hours before her and Dameron were supposed to depart for Kadaak.

Needless to say, she wasn't going to be getting any sleep.

"I mean, seriously, " Elara continued in her frustrated rant. "When I asked him for our plan, he said, 'I don't think we need one. Just follow Threepio's lead.' When has that ever worked in anyone's favor?"

You told me this. Deena replied. Three times.

Elara's head snapped towards her droid. "You wanna hit me with that kind of attitude right now? This is why I'm not taking you."

That wasn't why Deena wasn't accompanying Elara on her mission to Kadaak. The real reason is how Elara finally got Delphie and Kathy to start working on the final plan to install flight in the small DNA unit, which would make Deena the first droid to have flight on base. No, she hadn't checked this with anybody. No, she couldn't officially give authorization to the girls to work on her droid as she wasn't currently their commanding officer. But she could easily get away with it until she got her position back.

Rude. Deena snapped before turning and walking down the small set of stairs on the side of Elara's desk. Wake me up when you're nice.

Deena then waddled her way to her charging deck, where she immediately powered off. Elara scoffed at the droid's behavior, but a sad voice chimed in the back of her head.

The personality of Deena reminded her much of Delphine. The girl, a few years younger than Elara, was the first and only one to have ever operated on Deena. The droid had been skittish when they first stole her, having been subjected to abuse at her owner's hand for years prior. Delphie was the one to get Deena to open up to the rest of them.

Many pricks to Elara's innocent fingers and about an hour later, she finally finished sewing the hole in her suit closed. She was the only one in the squadron to have a suit like this. She wanted to find a way to make them all match, but that proved nearly impossible. The suit in Elara's possession was one of a kind, as it belonged to her mother. It was also one of the only things she had of Pandora's. Well, that and...

Nevermind.

She quickly put the sewing kit back together and set it on the corner of her desk. The clutter on the desk frustrated her, but there wasn't anything she could do at that moment to clean it up.
